Greenie and Golic end an 18 year run tomorrow. Really quite a remarkable run in today's media. I wonder how the new show with Golic, Golic and Wingo will be.

I think the new show will be better. From the limited times they've done the show with the revised group, it seems like it will be a little "edgier" (not full-on LeBatard, but still...). I think Greenberg kept Mike & Mike more milquetoast, but that Golic Sr will open up a little with Wingo and Jr. I'm looking forward to it.
I for one am going to miss Greenie. While I like Golic, it was the two of them playing their version of The Odd Couple that made that show so much fun. It was never as good when one of them was missing. I'll give it a shot, but I'm not optimistic.
Doesn't sound promising to me, but they will have their audience because some folks like Golic. I just never thought he brought anything to the show. Just my opinion though. M&M was obviously popular to many people.
Don't really care what Golic Jr has to say about anything. Was a nothing fullback at notre dame cus of his dad and is on espn cus of his dad. I think Wingo is weird.
I think Golic is great as the comic relief so to speak. The shock jock to Greenie's straight man. To me Greenie was Seinfeld and Mike was Costanza. I just don't see Mike carrying a show by himself, and honestly I don't really like his son that much. He comes off as an obnoxious brat trying to be edgy. I don't see him lasting that long.
They were good together and I assume both will be ok on their own. I want seek out wither of their shows but if I catch them on I'll probably listen for a while. I prefer Dan & Dan to Mike & Mike. LeBetard and Patrick.
I listen to Mike and Mike about two days a week. I enjoy the show, it's a good balance of intelligent view points and conversation, while being lose and understanding when to laugh.
Golic and Gringo will not be as good. Not saying it will tank, but it won't be as good IMO.
Greenie's new show will tank however. He is teaming up with Jalen Rose and Michelle Beedle. Michelle Beedle is on the backside of her career, and the top of her career wasn't anything massive, just a couple years of being the cool MTV type blonde who can hang with the boys and drink beer etc.
It will suck...Greenie is messing up.

Jalen Rose is one of the Top 5 most unwatchable sports personalities on TV. I wouldn't spend 2 seconds watching a show he was on.
I'm with you. The team they have on during NBA games is brutal. Rose, Billups and Paul Pierce all suck.
IMHO Golic sr is the show, and Greenie and his lack of sports knowledge/opinions is expendable. I tired of Greenie and his predictable 30 word routine years ago.
To take it a step further, From those i know who worked with them at espn, Greenie tried for years to get a “today” show like gig because hes more into celebrities and traditional news, but hes just not charismatic enough to carry anything so no network would pick him up, so he settled for another sports gig which im stunned espn gave him. I expect it to fail.
Golics new show, i gotta say im shocked T Wingo was chosen. Dude is angry and i think ESPN wants more in fighting with Golic which they will get. So many better choices out there, then again ESPN isn’t exactly making great decisions lately.

I am not sure about Golic and Wingo but think it will be immensly more popular/successful than this morning show of Greenbergs. The group they are putting with that show seems just terrible.

I enjoyed the show. I do think many will tune out over time now. With Golic Jr. it just smells of my dad got me this job and most have no idea he actually played football. Golic Jr. also as some have said comes off as a spoiled kid who thinks he has all the answers and knows the inner working of sports from his ND time and very brief NFL time.

Id have gone with a lead female to change the vibe of the show and actually attract new viewers,...like Linda Cohn, J Foudy, Kay Adams, S Ponder, K Leahy(Cowherds assistant host). They all have great jobs but that personality type to be the more serious host.
For a guy id have said Russillo would be a good personality fit, totally different than those women but i think they’d get along well.

His pretentious might not be as accepting without Golic playing it down.
Anyone who watched/listened to Mike & Mike certainly knows Jr. played football at Notre Dame. It would be hard to not know that.

ESPN is paying Greenburg $6.25 Million per year. He has to have picture of John Skipper banging a goat.
I usually have the show on in the background and will be thrilled not hear anymore comments about Stevie and Stace.
Golic was interviewed by a Cleveland outlet and it was clear he isn't a fan of Greenberg. He said they rarely socialize and now that Greenburg will be in NY, it will probably stay the same. Basically said they have nothing in common.
Yes if you watch the show you would know since they mention it so often; however believe it or not they have a fairly broad audience for a sports talk morning show. I was just saying if you were a casual fan that wasn't all in on CFB you might not know he played.
Is the show with Wingo and the Golic's going to be football only or will they talk about all sports. Golic Sr. has been at it long enough that he should be fine with all sports but I'm not so sure about Wingo talking MLB, NCAA Hoops, NBA, etc.
As are all sports talk shows now, I'm sure theirs will be football heavy all year. I would also imaging they'll cover the sport in season as well. ESPN has broadcast contracts with all the major professional sports.
They mention it about as much as Greenberg mentioned how much of a NY Jet fan he is. I tolerated the Jets, but hate them now because of Berg's constant reminder of how much of a fan he is.
I didn't watch the show that much at all, and would listen in the car every now and then. I preferred to listen to Steve Czaban.
On Greenberg, to me, comes across as the nerd who had his underwear pulled over his head, the last kid picked at kickball. I think he tried using his intelligence as a way to compensate for his lack of athleticism, I mean, did you ever see him try to play in one of those celebrity softball games. His opinion on some things were worthless to me, because the guy to the left of him, actually played big time college and pro sports, and Golic's opinion was worth more to me, even if I disagreed with Golic, because of the fact that he played the game.
On Golic, he went to Notre Dame, and is a pretty intelligent guy , but I hate the way that he comes across as the big lug, like The Ogre, from "Revenge of the Nerds". I know the show is not produced to make him come off as the dumb jock, but he is presented/comes off that way to me, at least IMHO. Over the years, Golic has blossomed into a well rounded, all sports guy, not just football. If anyone listens to Boston radio, listening to Lou Merloni talk about anything other than baseball, is brutal. At one time, Golic was Lou Merloni.
As for the kid, he is the bosses kid, and aren't they the worst? I am shocked that ESPN didn't "lay Golic, Jr. off" after those Tweets and comments that he made directed at ESPN and Greenberg, after it was announced back in the spring that the show was ending, much to Greenberg's joy and asking. I would just rather listen to Golic and Wingo.
Greenberg, Beedle and Rose is going to be a disaster, period. Maybe Rose is working for free after his DUI, and Beadle is too for jumping to NBC and then begged to come back. That's probably why ESPN can pay Greenberg so much, Beadle Dumb and Beadle Dumber are working for free.
I will try to watch some of this morning's last broadcast, in hopes that the Golic's give Spike Dudley the Dudley Death Drop.

It was Jake Golic, the youngest son, not Mike Jr. who tweeted those things.
Does that actually work, adding a female brings in new listeners? I'd be surprised but maybe I'm wrong.
I'm not a fan of sports talk shows generally, but liked Mike and Mike when I happened to listen. They had actual conversations about some substantive topics and lots of give and take, unlike most of the other shows where the goal is simply to be loud and outrageous.
That explains alot, like I don't watch ESPN that often, M and M even less and the fact that I don't have a Tweeter account, lol. Now I have to go edit my post and chance losing squiffy's thumbs up! At least I spelled Greenberg with an E and not a U with an H.
I still want to see the Dudley Death Drop.
Just caught the end of the Bill Curry interview. Curry was great and his high school football recollection was great.

The show was great for years because of the chemistry they had, the odd couple thing, but the show then became too vanilla in the twitter, social media explosion, I always felt like Golic was playing it safe not saying what he really felt on some topics and Greeney was a NY guy who was out of touch with most of the country
The "huddle" portion of Bill Curry's interview was outstanding. A life lesson that many need to hear.
I didn't like them for a long time, but they've grown on me over the past couple of years, and I'll miss them. Greenie's nerd perspective is always interesting to me, because I was a 3 sport guy in high school, and have more of a Golic mindset.
Ok so even though I am chilling with work I still wake up early no matter how late I go to bed. Turn on what used to be M&M and holy crap are their other options bad. Tom Waddle (who as a bears fan I like) and some other guy are terrible and this morning it is baby Golic and some other guy and they are even worse. How do people this bad get paid good money to talk on the radio.
Waddle and the other guy are the afternoon drive team for the Chicago ESPN station. Junior is with Jason Fitz, the former fiddle player for The Band Perry, who has transitioned to sports talk radio from the music world. Golic and Wingo start on Monday. Fill-ins have always been in studio during Thanksgiving week.
I was listening this morning for an hour during my awesome drive into work. I thought it was a good show, maybe even a little better. The music was great, and the guest were great too. (Booger McFarland and the NBA commish). So no lack of getting people on the show and the handled the line of questioning very well.
