This is the first MI movie I've seen from beginning to end. It was good, and we (Mrs mjpwoo) enjoyed it.

Tom Cruise is a bad ass, I don't care if he's from Mars.

That's all.

Bat guano crazy but he's made several good movies. The last couple of MI films have been very good, for that genre.

Agreed. Big fan of TC. I know he's crazy but he's made a crazy amount of good movies and from all I've read, he's a great actor to work with and treats everyone well.

So OP is a Scientologist huh?

JK, have heard very good things about the new MI film from a few folks.

Saw the new MI movie last week. Great all around, and some of the best action I have seen in some time as well as a great story. Crazy that he does all those stunts himself, and there is pretty much no CGI used at all.

I can’t help but really like the guy. Always liked his movies and it’s really impressive he is still pulling it off at his age.

Skydiving with Corden was hilarious and yes, Les Grossman may be the greatest cameo of all times. G5, babeeee...

Went to the Q-Course with a guy who went to HS with TC. Said he was teh biggest dork in school. Guess who is laughing now. He seems like a good actor but the Scientology stuff is some craziness. It sounds like a ponzi scheme and a cult rolled into one.

@RangerNole : Have you ever checked out Terrence Popp on Youtube?

Tom cruise is the man.

He is from mars for sure, but he’s gotten better over the years. At his height (the Ellen couch moment), he was koo-koo-katcho!

But all of his movies are great!

The cameraman for the HALO sequence is a friend of mine, Craig O'Brian. OB as he is known. Solid dude.

No just watched his ranger school video though. A little bit of exaggeration; but that is normal. He is a cherry though I graduated 31 years ago this month, class 11-87. The food and sleep thing was real though. I lost 35lbs off a 170lb frame in about 40 days. They have changed the school a lot though. In 1995 I think they lost 4 guys to hypothermia and in the investigation the major contributing factors were fatigue and lack of nutrition; hmm really that is kind of why you are there. If you like Terrence you should watch Matt Best; his stuff is awesome.

I can't think of a bad movie he's made. I celebrate the man's entire catalog.

This is sort of my take, although I wouldn't go that far (not sure if serious).

I've never considered myself a "fan" of Tom Cruise, I don't particularly love to see him act or anything. But he's one of the few actors who has a good enough sense of taste, and enough control over the end product, that they rarely are in flat-out, money-grab stinkers. Some are not great, and I certainly haven't liked them all, but there's sort of a minimum level of quality that you can expect. It's going to be anywhere from meh to pretty great. And there are some, like the Mission Impossible and Jack Reacher movies, that I like a lot more than I would ever expect.

I really, really like one of his lesser considered movies, Knight and Day. That movie is great to me, and he's great in it. It's a very well done Hitchcock homage, but people just didn't really like it. Of all the people who have tried to do modern Hitchcock (DePalma, etc) it's by far the best to me, probably by taking a spin on Hitchock's action adventure films, rather than his creepy/suspense catalog.

Now, I didn't see The Mummy, by all accounts that's pretty horrible.

I don't really care about what he's like personally, I just don't. If you go down that road, you won't watch anything.

For a long time at least, you could say the same about Jodie Foster, never in something truly irredeemable. I haven't kept up with her more recent catalog.

I was painting with pretty broad strokes. Can’t say as I’ve ever gone to the theater to see one of his movies but I always seem to enjoy the ones I see at home. I know I haven’t seen everything. The Mummy and Jack Reacher come to mind immediately.

Who do you have in a fight, Tom Cruise or Matt Damon?

I can’t help but really like the guy. Always liked his movies and it’s really impressive he is still pulling it off at his age.

Heard on the radio the other day that Wilfred Brimley was 50 years old when Cocoon was released.
Kind of puts Cruise’s stunts in another light.

Neither while they both can have really cool fight and action scenes they are still choreographed. I guess if I had to choose I would pick Damon he is younger and from Boston; not to mention Ben Aff leck is his buddy. Good to have Batman in your corner; maybe he gives you a tool from his belt.

Think about this: Tom Cruise has been starring in movies for almost 40 years (1981).

Thinking about the amount of his own stunt work he has done, I have to respect anyone who is that committed to what they do. Also, the other day I ran across the first MI film from, I believe 1996. Dude is in way better shape now then he was then. Tip of the cap, sir. Also, Michelle Monaghan is still easy on the eyes.

I think you guys are way overestimated how much of the stunts Cruise is doing, by a lot.

He is definitely known for doing as many of his own stunts as any star in Hollywood, and he will do as many stunts as they allow him to do.

But that's the key. If you think he is being allowed to do any truly dangerous, death defying (or face-threatening) stunts, you're nuts. He simply wouldn't be allowed. The studios don't allow it, the insurance wouldn't allow it. They're not going to sink a billion dollar franchise because Tom insisted on crashing his motorcycle into a helicopter or something.

But he definitely should get credit for doing everything they'll allow him to do, which is still very impressive, at any age let alone his age. But that doesn't translate to every crazy thing you see on screen being actually him. CGI and stunt men still abound on his films.

Walking on the side of that tall building and hanging on the outside of a flying plane (which he both definitely did) puts him high up in my book of guys with balls.

He also did the halo jump and pretty much all the helicopter scene, including flying, in this latest installment.

The guy has pretty much down every one of these MI stunts himself.

Oh, most definitely. I've heard he will do literally anything the studio will let him do, and he's more than willing to do plenty of the things that they won't let him do.

Not a huge fan of his but don't hate him. Surprisenly really liked Made in America and Edge of Tomorrow.
