Jimbo Fisher's post-practice interview:

It was only a few months ago when Sean Maguire and Kermit Whitfield were part of Florida State's practices. On Monday, the former Seminoles attended the team's first practice after having last week off for spring break.

Maguire and Whitfield were among a number of visitors to take in practice. FSU also welcomed coaches and players from North Florida Christian.

Now, for the news:

>Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher opened by practice saying the team was not at the standard he was expecting. Fisher said that's normal on the first day after spring break. He said the goal was to have players correct their mistakes when they made them. Fisher said, "I'm not disappointed at all. It's about what I expected. At least there was effort and after they made a mistake, they'd go back after it."

>Josh Sweat, Janarius Robinson and walk-on Kris Dixon got time at strong side defensive end. Jalen Wilkerson, Josh Kaindoh and Brian Burns were at weak side defensive end. Wilkerson looked really quick during drills. Fisher said Sweat has looked good as he recovers from an injured finger. Sweat told reporters after practice he tore a ligament when he was in high school and did not discover it until coming to FSU.

>Staying with the defensive ends, they were working on technique. It's something they've doing since camp broke. Defensive ends coach Brad Lawing was big about stressing footwork and hand placement while they were working with the tackling dummies.

>As for the defensive tackles, coach Odell Haggins really made open practice all about technique. He had the tackles line up opposite the tackling dummies to breakdown their what they were or were not doing with their shoulders and/or feet.

>Right when FSU broke for camp, we had a story about how the team will use protective helmets this spring in an attempt to reduce concussions. Every player was wearing the soft shells and it led to someone remarking how it "sounds like Charmin" whenever padding collided instead of the normal "crunch" many are used to hearing.
