FSU sports information:
The Florida State volleyball team (18-8, 10-6) fell to No. 10 SMU (21-6, 13-3) in three sets (16-25, 28-30, 16-25) on Sunday afternoon.
Taylor Head got off to a good start for the Noles in set one as the teams traded points throughout the first half of the set. SMU got hot in the middle of the set and finished the set with a 13-3 run to take the first set 25-16.
Set two was very competitive from start to finish as no team led by more than three in the entire set. FSU had its chances as they were up 22-19, but SMU fought back to tie it at 23. A kill from Head gave the Noles set point but was unable to convert as SMU tied it at 24. FSU was unable to capitalize on its next four set points as SMU took set two 30-28.
FSU had an early lead in set three, but SMU used a 9-2 run to take set three and the match.
Head and Audrey Koenig led the Noles with 10 kills each.
FSU will return home on Friday to take on No. 15 Georgia Tech in Tully Gym at 6:30 p.m. on ACCNX.
