'Noles win the toss. They defer. Let's go

----------
8:12 p.m. Here come the 'Noles. Let's play some football.

7:45 p.m. We're hearing our first 'warchant' of the evening and it's pretty damn loud to this point. Overheard a few reporters say, "those FSU fans are really, really loud." You don't say....

7:35 p.m.: First-team OL is Derrick Kelly, Landon Dickerson, Alec Eberle, Cole Minshew and Rick Leonard. It's the lineup everyone has expected and it's one people inside the Moore Center have been pleased with. Check out our story from earlier this week:

7:30 p.m.: FSU is out on the field and everyone is stretching. Worth noting George Campbell is dressed out too.

7:27 p.m.: If there was ever a way to do a 'William Tell' challenge between Francois and Blackman, it'd be interesting. Both have a lot of strength and touch in warmups so far.

7:19 p.m.: Cam Akers, Amir Rasul, Tarvarus McFadden, Derwin James, Keith Gavin and D.J. Matthews are in the end zone preparing as if they're about to start fielding returns. Also, another chunk of the team has taken the field for warmups. Alabama has a few players who are out there but a good bit of its team has yet to take the field.

7:15 p.m.: Tonight's QB-Center combos are: Francois-Alec Eberle; James Blackman-Corey Martinez; J.J. Cosentino-Cole Minshew and Bailey Hockman-Landon Dickerson. Remember, FSU is without Baveon Johnson who is out for the year after having surgery.

7:10 p.m.:Interesting.

7 p.m.: A few FSU players, including Derwin James and Tarvarus McFadden, have taken the field for warmups. Once we get more players, we'll start going over things like first-team offensive line and QB-center combos for the evening.

6:55 p.m.: Some former player showed up:

6:44 p.m.: Just a reminder. FSU is donning white tops and gold trousers. Alabama is wearing crimson tops and white trousers.

6:38 p.m.: Deondre Francois is out getting some stretching. He's changed his hairstyle for what might be the third time this preseason. Anyway, he was getting in some jump rope like he's boxing. He then broke out a stretch band to start getting in some footwork. Francois, like so many players, has his headphones on and looks pretty focused.

6:33 p.m.: Figured we'd throw out a pre-game read for those interested as it relates to Matthew Thomas. Former Seminoles defensive coordinator Mick Andrews had some pretty good insight about what to expect given his three-week absences. Check it out here:

6:30 p.m.: A few FSU players have taken the field. Namely Ricky Aguayo and Nyqwan Murray who are out getting warmed up. Nobody has come out in full pads. Just pants and t-shirts. Logan Tyler has been getting some good distance on the punts we've seen to thos point

----------------------------------

IT has begun. And by IT, of course, we mean what's been billed as the 'Greatest Opener of All-Time' as it relates to college football.

No. 3 Florida State and No. 1 Alabama will finally play each other at 8 p.m. after what's felt like several months of non-stop build-up to this game. As always, we'll use this space to provide pre-game updates along with what we're observing on the field.

Once pre-game has ended, this space will turn into our actual in-game updates thread.
