Technically three as they are losing Josh Burrell this semester as well. But while he was around the team this spring, he wasn’t practicing and announced his intent to transfer before spring camp.
Riley made a visit to FSU prior to committing to NC State, so this one might be one to pay attention. FSU and NC State were the two schools that he considered seriously. Wouldn't be shocked if he circled back, but he also could have gotten a better offer than he had from NC State. With free agency by the semester, it is really hard to read the tea leaves sometimes.
FSU is interested in Barrow as are just about every P4 program in the country. He has already made a visit to LSU is reported to have visits scheduled with Miami and Missouri.
Sources tell us the Seminoles are very interested in Barrow. It is unknown if he will visit FSU but the same sources indicated that if he does, it will not be this weekend.
I believe FSU is at 87 players on their roster right now. I think the big thing is FSU also needs to lose 5 spots over the next two years. How many of those does FSU take losses on. I would take 3 this year and 2 next year. Take the punishment now. I would even consider taking all five this year. If they do take the punishment this year that means FSU has to lose as many as 7-8 ships before they can even think about taking on other players. I think that is why FSU really has not made many moves in the transfer portal.

Harmon is another portal DT FSU has interest in. The Michigan State transfer is visiting Colorado this weekend based on multiple reports. He has scheduled a visit to Miami and is expected to visit Oregon as well.
I agree. I think they really want another DL and would like a WR that can start. I don't think they would take another S unless he's a potential first round type and I think they are pretty comfortable with the way the LBs showed in Spring camp. So a LB maybe but only if it really fits. They might take an OT before a LB if the right one is available. I'm with you though, they better jettison some current schol players before they get serious in the portal. the problem is I don't think many want to leave and thats a credit to what Norvell has built here and the culture he's developed.

Bowens would be exactly what we need, but you gotta think he goes back home if he leaves Oregon.
It sort of makes you wonder if being on scholarship is even that important anymore with the days of NIL. Wouldn't it be easy to tell a big time prospect that due to the scholarship restrictions recently imposed, there is a spot on the team, but school would not be paid for. Tuition costs $6,000 for in state, and say $18,000 for out of state. Can't we just pay him extra cash and have him "pay" for his own tuition? Heck, it would make sense to have one of the kids from Florida willingly give up their scholarship and just receive an extra $10,000 per semester of NIL money to help out.
I think we already did this in the past with some PWOs like Caziah Holmes and Dante Anderson, who were both 4 star recruits and could have taken a scholarship elsewhere
It does seem like a way to get around the scholarship restriction in any given year. To a certain extent schools have been doing this with preferred walkons, who qualify for bright futures, and other academic scholarship aid.
I will ask compliance if there is any NCAA guidance on this, and what the caveat would be, but I think generally speaking, you’re right.
You cited the cost of tuition at $6000 for an in-state student and $16,000 for an out of state. The total cost of attendance for a instate student is calculated at about $50,000 and $60,000 for an out-of-state student, which includes tuition, books, fees, housing, travel home and the cost of attendance stipend the NCAA now allows schools to pay as part of a student athlete scholarship.

They are also out of the running for Harmon who is down to Colorado, Ohio State, USC, Oregon and a possible return to Michigan State.
Former Florida State wide-receiver Malik McClain has reportedly entered his name into the transfer portal. He transferred to Penn State this past spring.
And we have our first transfer addition for FSU of the post-spring window. It's a familiar face as former FSU DB Omarion Cooper announced today he's rejoining the Seminoles after playing last season at Colorado.

His committing would sense given the decommitment from NC State. If memory serves, those were the only two visits he made this past winter. Will be interesting to see where they use when/if he comes to FSU. He played a little ILB, OLB and some edge at Auburn. FSU needs another LB that really runs well to compete with Nichelson.
He moves extremely well for a kid his size. He will be a menace on blitz packages. Can for sure see him lining up at DE on occasions. Dude can play wherever needed. Could even play WR. Cam would be a home run!

I said the same thing on our podcast, he grew up in Michigan, the Wolverines and Badgers have always made the most sense and Kentucky is closer to home too.
Makes you wonder how hard Mich, Mich State pursued Fiske who is also a Michigan native.
Michigan was too busy filming their future opponents.
Michigan clearly didn't need him, so guessing they passed for that reason. And MSU had at least two stud DTs on the roster - the ones who are now transferring out, LOL. IIRC Fiske was down to FSU, ND and USC.
I love that for Malik! He's got a chance to really contribute in Dilly's offense.
