Parties & Irresponsible Students = No CFB in 2020

I absolved no one. I just stated that it is ironic to place blame when you won’t take the guidance in the first place. It’s hypocritical.

That wasn't how it read, but I will take you at your word.

Partner, you have to be kidding me. Cases means jack squat. Deaths matter. Argue Florida's response all you want, but any defense of NY is pure narcissism.

NY killed their people and their economy along with parts of NJ. It is as complete a total failure as can be measured.

Even though flights were supposedly stopped from China, 40,000+ continued to come into the US.

However, the NY problem was traced back to Europe. flights continued to come into the US until March 11 with the exception of the UK.

If you’ve ever been to NYC, you understand the density of the population. The spread was inevitable. A lot of NJ residents work in NYC.

But make no mistake about it, Florida has more than 10,000 deaths after bobble head made a fool out of himself on national tv.

All those people flying in went to the nursing homes, huh? Gotcha.

Yes. But Newsom didn’t do this

.
based on the date of that clip for the 6 weeks after reopening there was a decline in cases week over week until the rioting began. then within a month, the numbers are through the roof. no correlation though i'm sure...

of course, CNN, as usual, choose to ignore that some of the mandates were put back in place as numbers increased and the worst-hit areas in Florida remained under the original order.

Florida still just barely cracks the top 20 for number of deaths per capita despite it having the second-highest number of residents aged 65+.

Cases means jack squat.QUOTE]

Unfortunately, the new goal posts are a complete elimation of any and all cases. So, they now do mean Jack squat.

Heck, the whole thread here is based on case count of the general student population shutting down college football.

so if Trump shut down travel to Europe on 3/11, why did Cuomo wait another couple of weeks to shut down the state?

From Europe not to Europe. But people traveled from China to Europe then to the US for months prior to the travel shut down.

And I don’t know when and why any governor or the potus did or didn’t do what was necessary to do. When all the facts come out, we will all better understand why.

How 'bout some good news...

We now have the best evidence yet that everyone develops long-term coronavirus immunity after infection — and it's not just about antibodies

Scientists may now have an answer to one of the most crucial lingering questions about COVID-19: whether people develop long-term immunity.

Early research suggested that coronavirus antibodies — blood proteins that protect the body from subsequent infections — could fade within months. But in their concern about those findings' implications, many people failed to consider our immune system's multilayered defense against invading pathogens.

Specifically, they discounted the role of white blood cells, which have impressive powers of recollection that can help your body mount another attack against the coronavirus should it ever return. Memory T cells are an especially key type, since they identify and destroy infected cells and inform B cells about how to craft new virus-targeting antibodies.

Great news. Also read somewhere in the last week, and I wish I had copied it, a theory that those who have received other vaccinations are faring better with virus as their immune systems are more likely to produce antibodies than those who are not vaccinated for other viruses and conditions.

I don't know how to delete the tweet from trump and don't know how to post only the pic of the countries and states. Focus on the pic with the bobble heads....

Ese focus only on the chart, not THE BS slavery comments. I don't know how to isolate the one tweet.

In my opinion, this is one of the most ignorant, incorrect, and irresponsible posts that I have seen on Warchant. And I have been on here since the late 1990s.

Then, you've not been poking around WC much. I'll be more specific for you though....

If we had, after the first couple/three weeks, acted based on science, we'd be very likely out if this mess for good.

Instead, we locked everybody down, destroyed businesses and livelihoods, with folks having more health issues like fatal heart attacks and strokes, Suicides, increased substance abuse and depression/anxiety.

We should have IMMEDIATELY locked down the most vulnerable, since nearly no one else who is healthy dies from this.

One more question... If masks are required, are those of you in favor of that also going to demamd wearing masks around men's "personals" when it's time for sexy time? If not, why not? What's the difference?

Did masks work in Miami Dade?

I 100% guarantee you that masks don’t work if you don’t wear them. And just because something is “mandated” doesn’t mean it is adhered to. Minority communities are being hit especially hard, for a variety of reasons. One of which is the almost universal dismissal of wearing masks and social distancing.

months? it was precisely 40 days between each of the travel restriction dates. Italy only locked down one day before European travel was restricted.

I agree

I disagree - first time I’ve heard this. Could you provide a link of this universal dismissal?

.

OR..... We can be rational, accept that positive cases will increase (temporarily), realize that college age kids don't die from this, protect the most vulnerable and and proceed forward........

All this stupid mask wearing and social distance measures HAVE NOT slowed the virus down. And now that college kids are together, it will be accelerated, and nearly EVERYONE will be fine.
Why do you hate science and common sense?

Not sure why it would make any difference how long it was. The fact that people were traveling and spreading this virus from country to country enabled the spread of the virus worldwide.

The virus was discovered as early as in December.

I deleted my original reply because quite frankly I don't have any desire to post in this thread anymore. I know how you feel, you know how I feel. No one is changing anyone's mind.

universal dismissal was a bad description. My apologies The inequities minorities face or fear would probably better describe the reasons for the harshly disproportionate stats.

Actually, there have probably been less than a handful of days in all those years where I did not log into Warchant. I might not post everyday, but I do read many of the daily messages.

Please read my subsequent qualifying post regarding public health.

No need to apologize, you and your link set the record straight. Nice job.

It’s unfortunate, but minorities live and work in very close proximity to one another and it’s tough to social distance. There’s also preexisting health factors that contribute to this situation from lack of or insufficient healthcare. Also have to factor in poor diet to the mix.

I just read that vitamin D can help ward off the virus and that blacks tend to have low vitamin D.

I also heard that vitamin D is good to ward off the virus. I think you’re right that blacks have naturally low vitamin D.

I usually get my D from the sun while out on the boat. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to get a lot this summer. Probably need to add it to my vitamin regimen.

the elderly also frequently have low vitamin D levels. the problem is that in the necessary dosage you need a prescription. i've seen melatonin supplement suggested too.

Hate to admit it, but it was an AARP newsletter. :(

Honest question. How does someone know the are vitamin D deficient? Not usually done in regular bloodwork.
from regular bloodwork, if your calcium levels are out of whack and it's accompanied with frequent illness, fatigue, bone or joint pain etc. those will usually be the markers sufficient for your doctor to request your vitamin D levels be checked.

low vitamin D also leads to osteopenia and osteoporosis.

did you get a discount at least? it's the little things! :)
When Progressive doubled my RV insurance I found Hartford through AARP saved me $450 and got it back down to where it had been before.
So, yes. :D

I actually get my D level checked once a year as my calcium levels were slightly elevated a few years ago. Was worried about my parathyroids.
My levels are normal now but I do have borderline osteopenia.

AARP sent a card to my wife first even though I'm a month older than her. I got a lot of mileage out of that letter and had it displayed in the home office until she took it down. :Face with Tears of Joy
