Not gonna go into profession or anything, but there’s someone I work directly with that’s been at the job for 30 years and does EVERYTHING possible to get out of every little situation where they may be inconvenienced. Which in turn puts more work on me and other Co-workers. Anyone have similar experiences? Hard to say anything when I’ve been there a year and they have that 30 year experience.

Are you one year into the workforce or one year into the new job?

Just this specific job. And the 30 year vet is the same level as I am. Not a superior or anything. We each have the exact same daily responsibilities. Except, because of their inability to just retire, they make my job harder on a daily basis.

You know like the 40 minute job where they magically disappear for the first 10 then get a phone call for the last 10? Those add up when done every day.

You’ll get the hang of landscaping soon enough. Everyone has to pay their dues.

Sounds like me. I cut out as much b.s. as absolutely possible. I'm sure to some people it looks like I'm trying to avoid certain things, but it's well thought out. I don't do anything that has no direct impact on productivity or the success of the organization. I focus on what I'm good at and try to avoid meaningless tasks and what I can't do easily. I used to be a nose to the grindstone guy but now I'm all about quality, efficiency and work environment.

Haha that’s perfect.
