today and cranked it up loud on the ride to the crib. It is live and full of jam, so I am still just into the first CD...so far so good.

Stevie is one of my favorite musicians of all time, truly a remarkable talent. Great singer, great on keyboard, excellent guitar player. Possibly the most talented all-around musician of the rock era.

You make a strong argument in my mind. The song writing is also top drawer. I am still listening to the cd and there is certainly no dissapointment. Crisp, strong, vocals are on the money. Wow, what a long career and still bringing it.

Arc of a Diver is one of the all time greats...

I'm assuming more than just solo stuff?

The songs are from all stages of his career, including tunes from his time with Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith, and solo - but they aren't recordings OF those groups (i.e. it's not 1960s recordings of Traffic & Blind Faith). From what I've read, many were recorded pretty recently.

I listened to it on amazon this morning, it's very good.

"I'm A Man" and "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" are spot on. Given that they were "hits", I know this is not what some wonder about. There are a few covers...the Buddy Miles anthem "Them Changes" and "Why Can't We Live Together" by Timmy Thomas.
I am still digesting the CD, but it is very strong so far.

Saw him at Music Midtown in Atlanta in early 2000s. Can't remember if he was performing as solo artist or Traffic, but he and his band were fantastic. The guy is ageless. Looks and sounds like he did in the 60s/70s.

Love me some Steve Winwood. Traffic has always been one of my favorite rock groups. There's some great video on Youtube of late 60's early 70's Traffic live concerts. I actually liked Traffic's music better after their first breakup (when Dave Mason left the band). There's also some decent footage of Blind Faith's concert in Hyde Park, London. I've never been a big fan of Clapton but I did like his stuff with Blind Faith and his early to mid '70's rockabilly phase.

Here's a quick read on a lifetime Hendrix fan that reached out to Winwood backstage after a concert in the late 80's and Winwood and Jim Calpaldi (co-leader of Traffic) comes to the guy house to see his Hendrix collection and to listen to Hendrix/Traffic Jam bootleg tapes.
