We are very aware that it has been a mess on the Tribal Council the past few days. So, if you plan to continue to participate and/or feel the need to complain about posters, moderation or anything on this forum please read this first.
With the status of the head coaching search there are a lot more people than normal on the Tribal Council. More people posting means there are more chances for disputes to arise. And because expectations were raised for FSU’s top choice for head coach, and that seems to have fallen through, tempers are running high. This all creates for a volatile environment. Please keep that in mind when you post and when are replying/arguing with another poster.
FIRST – If a poster is breaking a rule or you don’t like what somebody is saying to you other others, USE THE REPORT BUTTON. This immediately alerts the moderators and directs them where to look. If for some odd reason you don’t like clicking this button, email the moderators directly at moderators@warchant.com AND include a link to the offending post.
DO NOT take the matter into your own hands by challenging the poster, complaining publicly or sending a vague mail to me or the moderators, or tagging me, telling us to clean up the forums. That just wastes everybody’s time and can make matters worse.
TIP – If you don’t like a specific poster use the “Ignore” button. It’s a much better alternative than continuing to argue with this person and constantly reporting them or complaining.
SECOND – The moderators have the directive to issue warnings (which could lead to ban) for continued complaining about specific posters, the moderation of the forums or the Warchant staff. The Tribal Council is here for one purpose – “To discuss FSU sports”. It is not a complaint forum, a customer service forum, or a place for you call people out you don’t like. If you have a complaint about a the message boards (moderators@warchant.com), a customer service issue/complaint/suggestion (support@warchant.com) or have constructive criticism for how we do our job and/or our staff (contact the staff).
THIRD – We get that there are so-called “Insiders” both on social media and on this forum. We continually warn people to take what is said by fans with a grain of salt. There are some out there that have built a huge following on social media despite having no real sources and constantly floating rumors. But we aren’t going to censor people that proclaim to have the scoop on this forum. That’s part of the fun of a message board community. On a few rare occasions they might even be on to something. At the same time, we aren’t going to go out of our way to protect these board “insiders” if they promised something that turned out to be false. But enough is enough. Anytime you call out a specific poster in a negative manner it breaks the forum rules. So both the insiders and the fans that are upset need to move on.
WRAPPING UP
We get that people are fired up about FSU’s coaching search, and sometimes don’t like what or how we report something, but we will no longer be a punching bag. Its counterproductive and a waste of time to have to constantly debate what or how we report news or nuggets. And again, it has nothing to do with the purpose of this message board. Not saying you can't give us your input, but it must be done in a respectful manner and that means dealing with us directly. You don’t yell out complaints in front of customers at a place of business, you instead speak to the manager or owner directly. We are asking for the same consideration.
Trolling is real and there are a few people on this forum that enjoy getting a rise out of people, including us. Sometimes we don’t know whether the poster has a sincere complaint or are just looking to cause a stir on the boards. The most effective way to weed this out is to discuss it via email. In my 20-plus years running this site I’ve never ignored an email with a complaint/suggestion as long as it was done respectfully and offered something constructive.
