President Thrasher wants to hear from you

Is this in regards to your Marco Rubio threads that keep getting deleted, or something else?

I'm confused. Your first post said to tell him he's doing a great job and now you want me to find out why he's done by a great job and then congratulate him for it?

Okay tell him he's doing a terrible job. Tell him how you feel....

I love that gif!!! How I feel about the Jaguars season already though.

It can be about the comments made yesterday or it can be about anything you'd like to share with President Thrasher.

Of course it is. He thinks he can do an end around. Not sure why people care about what Rubio said.

People should care about what Rubio said because he is a political representative from Florida that took an unnecessary jab at FSU which is a state funded university. Since he is also a presidential candidate, this has now become a national news story that once again furthers a negative image for FSU.

Nobody cares. It is a blip that will go away tomorrow.

I would also encourage those that do care to send a message to Marco Rubio as well. I know it's just playful joking among rivals, but this is coming from a presidential candidate and current Senator from our state. His simple little joke is now national news and there is an article about it on the four letter's website. FSU becoming a top 25 public university is mainly being held back because of low academic reputation among peers (university presidents, guidance counselors, etc.). Comments like Rubio's certainly do not help.

Everyone should call the # in the OP's post. I just did.

I sent an email. How did the # work out? I'm assuming his assistant probably handles that line.
Yeah it was his assistant, but she was very friendly and wanted to hear everything I told her. It seemed like she was unaware of this story which surprised me. Perhaps another reason for more people to call.

I think he's doing a much better job being an advocate for FSU's public image. He was very vocal last year when NY Slime was engaging in their smear campaign.

This was not a jab by a fan of a rival at our football team, which would be acceptable. This was a jab by a representative of Florida at FSU as an academic institution, which is not acceptable.

These things continue to happen because FSU does nothing in response. Could you image the political backlash if this comment was made about USF or UCF? Not to mention uf, because we all know that would be political suicide in this state. However, FSU apparently is fair game.

Very well put. I more frustrated at our university leadership because we do nothing to respond to these public attacks.

A United States Senator elected to represent the interests of the state of Florida should not be publicly badmouthing the academic reputation of a state-funded university or the intellect of its students and graduates.

This was purely unprofessional, poorly thought out, and not becoming of a U.S. Senator - and certainly not becoming of someone thinking he ought to be the ruler of the free world.

Politicians shouldn't be allowed to get away with flippant, unfounded remarks insulting others - Trump (and many before him) have set an awful example for others seeking the spotlight.

Rubio just ensured that I will NEVER vote for him and that I'll actively advocate for his opposition. I'd also be happy to see our elected officials step up and smack him down. I'll be emailing President Thrasher asking that he publicly rebuke Mr. Rubio. This is the link to let Mr. Rubio know how you feel:

I encourage those who hold FSU in high esteem to let Mr. Rubio know how you feel about his insult.

This. He should be promoting FSU. HE IS OUR STATE SENATOR, for goodness sakes. What kind of dimwit makes these kind of comments?

He also looks like an idiot making those comments for the following reasons (among others):

(1) He attended Santa Fe Community. Anyone with a high school diploma can go to a Florida CC. In all likelihood, he didn't have the grades or test scores to into FSU out of high school.
(2) His degree from UF is in a field of study (political science) where FSU's academic program is superior. See. U.S. News World Report.
(3) He graduated from a law school (UM) ranked lower than FSU's law school. See. U.S. News World Report.

What a moron.

The average GPA of an incoming FSU student is 3.93, by the way.

His only hope was to be tapped as a VP candidate. Again, let him know his comment has just cost him the state of Florida so that the party can take this into account when considering whether or not to offer him that role. I hope he has 1000 emails in his inbox by day's end, but I know most people will just quietly accept his insult rather than convey their displeasure.

Also, I know that many of you are reading this at work and reluctant to email him from your work computer. You should know the link I posted allows you to enter your comments and send them directly from his webpage rather than as email from your computer.

Has anyone received a response back from President Thrasher? I will follow up with a call at lunch.

We need to stop accepting the insults thrown at our university and allowing them to devalue the degree from FSU and the hard work our students put in each semester.

This Rubio insult deserves its own thread I think. President Thrasher is good about responding personally, by the way, but it make take a bit of time.

As a Senator for the State of Florida, way to promote one of the great resources of your state, Marco.

"Fighting for Florida" my rear end.

Insults like this are yet another reason why FSU needs to get its butt in gear and demand that the State and Federal government devote the necessary resources to FSU so that it can move into an elite category of academic institutions.

Advocate for FSU, people!

FSU also need a REAL professional lobbying group and a REAL professional PR department, instead of the friends of LCR (Leon County Residents) network that it currently employs.

My only issue with your statement is that he went to Santa Fe CC in New Mexico I believe and it was tied to some type of sports scholarship per something I read on him. But graduating from UF with a program of lesser reputation and quality than FSUs (PoliSci) and a law school of lower ranking to boot is 100% accurate and should be our presidents immediate response. I'm disappointed that Thrasher has let this insult sit.

Didn't he go to Santa Fe Community College........which is where students who couldn't get into Florida go?

Just now from our President:

“He’s a nice kid,” said FSU President John Thrasher, who served with Rubio in Florida legislature. “I’m sure he’s frustrated by his low standing in the polls, which I believe could be a reflection of where he got his education.”
