Redshirt senior offensive lineman Robert Scott Jr. is a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation’s Campbell Trophy. In its 35th year, the Campbell Trophy recognizes an individual as the best football scholar-athlete for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.
Scott, from Conway, Arkansas, earned his undergraduate degree from Florida State University in December and is working towards his athletic coaching certificate. He is a three-time member of the All-ACC Academic Team, was twice on the ACC Academic Honor Roll and is a three-time dean’s list recipient.
On the field, Scott has played in 40 career games with 32 starts. Scott was a second-team All-ACC selection in 2022 as the Seminoles led the ACC in third-down offense, yards per pass, yards per play, yards per rush, total offense per game, yards per completion, rushing offense per game and scoring offense per game. Last season, Scott and the FSU offense led the league in scoring offense, total touchdowns, rushing touchdowns, yards per completion, fewest interceptions and fewest turnovers.
Thrust into action as a true freshman, Scott started seven games in 2020 and was a True Freshman All-American. He started 11 more games in 2021.
In the community, Scott has donated his time and talents to W.T. Moore Elementary School and the Pace Center for Girls, participated in the Keep Climbing coat drive and utilized his skills as a renowned artist by donating a painted pair of shoes for a fundraiser with Boys Town.
