So I decided I might give the staff a night or two off every month. And in that event, have been considering a robot vacuum. Actually the wife asked about it <insert jokes about that for Xmas and no pics>.
I scuffawed before, now I can see the value just for hair collection alone (3 females and two dogs).

So what have people here used and like vs not? Would prefer it be able to do hardwood and carpet. And not take a nose dive off the stairs (I think that is a standard feature now). Also have some hard to reach but easy to see areas under furniture.

Step one, robot vacuums, next up beer fetcher.

Mrs. Ed (no pics) bought a Roomba last week; it works fantastically, carpet and wood floors. She's taking it back because the app for the phone only works on 2.4 gig phones; it's not sophisticated enough for her 5 gig phone. When it looks on Wi-Fi and sees 10 different options, it gets confused. And for her, the app was the thing. Without it, it wasn't worth the price to her.

I have a Roomba 980. We've had it since April. I think it's great.

We have wood floors and a few large area rugs. It does a really nice job. Floor always feels clean. You do have to keep clutter off of the floor and wires well tucked away.

Also, do understand that if you have pets and they use the indoor facilities (ours does not), it could get really ugly.

Neato Botvac. We have the D80 and love it you definitely need to keep the stray stuff off the floor and with a 4 year old and 7 year I spend a lot of time picking up their stuff so that the it doesn't suck it up and or get stuck. Thats just a general robot vac issue and not specific to the neato. We have wood floors and it's crazy how full the bin get a ebb though the floors look clean.

Roomba 960 or 980, depending on amount of carpet in or size,of cleaning area. /endthread

Xiaomi. Google the Xiaomi cleaning pattern vs roomba. Our Xiaomi cleans a 2k+ square foot house in less than two hours and does a great job.

It's arguably on par or better than a roomba 980 for less than half the price. The roomba 980 does handle thick (shag) carpet better though.

Careful with the roomba and dogs....

That'd be awesome NDR. After I started searching, I found out I was also given a cap on price, and the Roomba 980 is definitely over the $, so Ill fly her to Atlanta for a visit with her friends and get a cheaper vacuum.

The whole poop thing is so disgusting, I can't imagine taking one of those apart trying to get all the crap out. Might just be better to burn it and buy a new one. The new puppy seems to almost be house broken, so hopefully i never have to do that.

Ended up getting a Hoover Rogue 970.
