Sara & Spanx just got paid $$$

Just read she just gave all 5000 employees first class plane tickets and 10k to enjoy a great trip. Out of what she’s being paid. That’s got to be like 75M when she’s all done.

If the government made her do that id be pissed. But I think it’s pretty awesome. And she’s one of the few that rich who have committed to giving almost all their money to charity. Again government should stay out but I applaud those who do.
It's 500 employees. But still very expensive and generous of her.

People love to tell rich people what to do with their money, too funny to me.
Don’t wanna turn this political but dont you think the Uber rich (I’m talking billionaires) have a duty to be highly philanthropic? I have no issue with them choosing where they donate but people worth billions of dollars who have 4 houses, 2 yachts, 2 planes, etc etc should be giving back. Again, not saying Bezos should be living in a modest 3/2 home or anything but when you have $100B you can do a ton of good for humanity.

Most will respond that you should not have to pay at a higher rate just because you make more money. I don't necessarily have an issue with that logic but then again they don't end up paying their fair rate because of various loopholes.

I used to strongly believe that as well and was for small government but eventually realized neither party actually is in favor of small government they're just in favor of small government as long as it benefits them at the voting booth but are fine spending as much money as they want on their own projects or for military spending.

ND: What loophole do you speak about? I hope you are not calling long term capital gains rates a loophole which is likely a primary source of income for the extremely wealthy.

For the others: a tax deduction for a qualified charitable contribution is a benefit of making the contribution and does not justify making it. You are better off to to pay the tax on a sum of money and keep the balance as opposed to giving the entire sum away. The purpose of charitable contributions is to use your money to help others. I often see people dismiss others contributions as merely getting tax breaks.

A "duty"? It's their money. They don't owe you or anyone else sh!t just because they are successful.

The irony of the post is that group of people are very involved in giving.

In 2020 Jeff Bezos topped the list by donating $10 billion to launch the Bezos Earth Fund. Bezos, who last week announced he was stepping down as Amazon CEO to devote more time to philanthropy and other projects, also contributed $100 million to Feeding America, the organization that supplies more than 200 food banks.

That is awesome. Everyone should help those less fortunate if they can. At least in my opinion.

If I were in their shoes, I would donate to causes that I supported and believed were worthy, but often we see that if that person chooses to give money to things/places that others don't like, they face criticism from people who can't resist telling folks just who to give their money to.

Bezos ex is doing better job than he is with her billions, but that's only my opinion. And she (or he) has not asked for my thoughts, so there you go.

Yeah Willie isn’t canned unless she stepped up to the plate.
Nope. Didn't happen. The guys you see parked in the Platinum/Golden Chiefs parking who are tailgating next to their luxury vehicles were asked to write checks, even though none of them were asked to be part of the original search.
Thank heavens for them.

I feel that way simply after playing golf. It's a luxury to me, makes me feel like I need to give the same amount or more to people who have nothing.

Wasn’t Spanx part of that?

Course she didn’t do a thing to earn them.

Ah I do recall rumors. Yeah, they were not at all accurate. Pretty sure she’s made it clear she’s not giving to football at all. Don’t even think it’s a hate thing. It’s just not her thing to support with her money.

Not sure if serious.
Well she did by being married to him. She got half. It’s how things work. But he built all that. Not yet. If they’d married different people hed still be who he is now. She’d be married to someone worth a lot less. It’s not like she’s Sara Blakely.

I’m shocked that you don’t know their history and how she busted her ASS right alongside him in the early days of the company. She worked there too.

She didn't get half. She got about 25% according to the article I just read. Still a big chunk of money.
