Student-athletes Kyvon Tatham and Cooper Crowell landed on the all-time top 10 at the Clemson Invitational on Saturday.
“Really excited on the way everyone competed,” said FSU head coach Matt Kane. “There was a lot of passion out there, including great career best. When you can open your season with a personal best, that means great things are headed in the right direction. It’s neat to get a new group of coaches together and see a lot of improvement.”
Tatham won the triple jump with a lifetime best of 15.89m (52-1¾), marking the 10th farthest jump in FSU history.
Crowell opened his season in the men’s weight throw, placing third with a lifetime best of 18.38m (60-3¾), marking the seventh farthest throw in program history.
Curtis Williams won the long jump with a measurement of 7.52m (24-8¼). Jaiden Rollins followed in second at 6.83m (22-5)
Jackson Hamilton opened his collegiate season in the men’s shot put, placing fourth with a mark of 13.48m (44-2¾).
Azharia Jones secured third in the women’s long jump with a mark of 5.60m (18-4½). Me’Yauney Peoples followed in fourth at 5.47m (17-11½). Adina Jackson rounded out the event for the Noles in sixth at 5.29m (17-4¼).
Curtis Bain placed seventh in the 600m with a time of 1:21.46.
In addition to Tatham in the triple jump, LaQuan Ellis finished in fifth place with a mark of 15.00m (49-2½). Jayden Louis Charles rounded out the event in sixth at 14.93m (48-11¾).
Bieke Schipperen led the way in the women’s one mile with a personal best time of 4.38.89. Brooke Mullins followed with a lifetime best of 4:43.31. Emily Brown placed fifth, clocking a career best of 4:47.01. Elizabeth Barlow clocked a lifetime best of 4:49.02 in sixth. Addison Boyer finished in seventh with a lifetime best of 5:00.94. Lauren Mahan in eighth (5:03.34), Ava Povich ninth with a personal best of 5:03.67. Olivia Niewald finished in tenth with a career best of 5:04.76. Ella Menke followed in 11th with a personal best of 5:05.52. Lilly Moore placed 12th at 5:13.57. Rebecca Bergnes followed in 13th with a time of 5:17.57. Regan Morrall rounded out the event in 15th (5:22.07).
Takiyah Ferguson opened her collegiate season in the women’s 60m hurdles, placing fourth with a time of 8.88. Andre Korbmacher led the Noles in the men’s 60m hurdles, finishing in second at 7.74. Tyson Williams followed in fourth at 7.98.
Zach Trotter took home the win in the men’s 1,000m with a time of 2:25.44. Anthony Herrera followed in second at 2:25.64.
Tyler Azcano won the men’s 60m with a time of 6.63. Neo Mosebi rounded out the event for the Noles in second at 6.66.
Tyra Wilson competed in the women’s 300m, placing second at 38.98.
Zianna Curtis opened her collegiate season in the women’s weight throw, placing fourth with a mark of 15.73m (51-7¼). Madison McGloin followed in fifth at 15.19m (49-10).
Kaelyaah Liburd placed third in the women’s 400m with a time of 55.81.
Shenese Walker won the women’s 60m with a collegiate lead of 7.20. Lucy May Sleeman rounded out the event for the Noles in fifth at 7.39.
Suus Altorf collected the win in the 800m with a time of 2:07.13. Jaden Francis followed in second at 2:15.31.
Kayla Pinkard placed third in the women’s triple jump with a mark of 12.10m (39-8½). Oluwadara Soremi followed in fourth with a measurement of 12.01m (39-5)
Lucy May Sleeman competed in the 200m, placing eighth with a time of 24.47. Olyudoyin Soremi finished the event in 10th at 25.72.
Dani Thompson competed solo in the women’s 3,000m placing sixth at 10:12.04.
Austin Kleinman placed fourth in the weight throw at 18.09m (59-4¼). Jackson Hamilton placed sixth with a time of 16.43m (53-11).
The men’s 4x400 relay finished in second with a time of 3:11.74.
Kaden Levings led the Seminoles in the men’s 3,000m in third place with a time of 8:33.28. Tanner Simonds followed in sixth at 8:43.80. Bernardo Barnhart concluded the race in eighth at 8:52.46.
Florida State competed in the women’s 4x400 relay, taking second with a time of 3:38.97. FSU’S C team followed in sixth at 3:57.41. The Noles B team rounded out the event in seventh at 3:59.57.
The Noles will compete at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational in Gainesville, Florida on January 17.
