Sentinel: UCF ask $176m from Orange County Tourist Development

You thought FSU was bold when it asked the City of Tallahassee for $20 million in Blueprint money to fund infrastructure for aging Doak Campbell Stadium, which brings in tens of millions of dollars each year to the communtiy?

According to the Orlando Sentinel, UCF AD Terry Mohajir has REAlLY big plans -- $267 million -- for the Knights' football campus and is looking to the Tourist Development coucil to fund $176 million of it!

  • The first phase includes a standalone football ops building, a recovery river, a new entryway into the Stadium, a new plaza area and renovations to the existing Wayne Densch Sports Center.
  • The original estimate was $125 million, the Sentinel reported a year ago. The new total cost of the proposed project is $267,878,184.
  • So far, $26,850,00 has been raised for the project, the document said.
