Shazam Trailer.

My first thought:

This looks like nothing DC has done so far. It's light-hearted, full of color, and meant to be fun rather than the brooding, colorless, angry world we've seen so far.

I'm not crazy about the suit, but everything else looks great.

Yeah, the Aquaman trailer looks like typical D.C. garbage (terrible CGI, swarms of CGI enemies, no cohesive plot, etc..) other than that they color corrected it to have bright colors and they tried to throw in some bro-humour which for me didn’t work in the trailer or his previous iterations. So I’m thinking Aquaman will be awful.

Shazam on the other hand looks like it could be part 3 of the MCU’s Antman series as long as Antman pops out of the quantum universe at the end to save the day. This looks like a completely different tone and direction. Will it be good? Who knows, I wasn’t incredibly in love with the trailer and more grinned than giggled, chuckled or actually laughed. BUT...at worst it’s a step in the right direction and maybe we will actually get something decent along the lines of Spider-Man Homecoming or Antman out of it.

I agree the tone is nothing like what DC has done before but I stand by my original post that it looks like garbage (and will echo that sentiment for Aquaman).

As far as I'm concerned, every future superhero movie can model Ant Man. Went this weekend and really enjoyed it. Plenty of magic, without them literally battling (once again) to save the entire world, the universe, or all of history. Even as much as I like Marvel movies, and will see most of them, I'm not really excited for any Avengers (mainline) movie that's not Thor. More about playing out the string for me. The movies in the genre have just gotten too BIG.

I don't know anything about this character, but I'm open to the tone. I finally rented the Justice League, quite a stinker. I don't know how they turn Aquaman into a franchise, what a dud character to me as portrayed. I didn't even HATE Batman v Superman as much as most, I would have given it a C grade, and I have no problem with Affleck Batman. But Justice league was considerably worse to me even with some attempt to lighten the mood. What a dog all the way around.

Yeah, that suit looked cartoonish, but maybe that's what they're going for.

On a side note, it's good see that Kendrick Lamar finally sold out.

Like Lou, I know nothing about Shazam. But that trailer makes him look like DC's version of Deadpool, which can't be all bad, can it?

Only in that he's humorish. He's actually not a comedy character like Deadpool is. He's been a fairly serious hero for years. The catch is that he's essentially a boy who transforms into a superhero, so he doesn't really have the experience for the job. In the comics he often winds up at odds with Superman (who is the only person with similar powers) due to his childish behavior.

I think they will all be equally entertaining....just like all the superhero movies before them.
