So What Did We Have To Gain By Signing The GOR?

1) Did we think that the ACC would kick us out of the conference if we didn’t sign the GOR? Who could possibly think that when we are the ACC’s cash cow and Swofford’s bitch?

2) What…did we think that Notre Dame would join the conference? First, they are getting paid mega dollars as part of their football package with NBC. There is no way they are even considering anything until that contract is up, and that’s years from now. Besides Swofford gave them a sweetheart deal where they can keep all of their NBC football money to themselves as an independent in football, yet they can make money from the ACC in the non-football sports. Why would anyone ever leave that kind of deal?

3) Oh we’re getting an ACC Network. By all accounts this is going to be a severally watered down conference network where you will have to stream the network, and the revenue generated from said network will be a small fraction of what the SEC and B1G make. But spin master Swofford (aka DJ Swofford) will tell everyone when the network is released that this is the network of the future and we shouldn’t worry about the difference in revenue generated by the conference networks.

Some will say we didn’t have a place to go at the time we signed the GOR. That may have been true, but that certainly doesn’t mean that you have to sign the GOR. By doing so we signed all of our future business options away.
