He was a two-time Consensus All-American noseguard on the 1977-80 Seminole football teams that defeated the University of Florida four consecutive seasons and made two Orange Bowl appearances. He is an FSU Hall of Famer and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. After an NFL career, Ron Simmons was one of professional wrestling's biggest stars, becoming the Heavyweight Champion of the World.
The Champ will be introduced by Marching Chiefs and Golden Girls. He returns for FSU's recognition on Saturday of the 1978-81 Seminole football teams.
At 10:15 a.m. the Dickie Hosford and Friends Band will perform their three FSU hits from the Bowden Era, Seminole Saturday Night, Ol' Time Rockin' Nole, and their tribute to Ron Simmons, Big Bad Ron.
