Stadium music vs. Marching Chiefs?

Need more YMCA... and of course for when
Miami plays us "turn down for what...":

41 yo white male. And the Marching Chiefs is what makes FSU unique. Any school without a decent music program can pump in terrible music over the PA system. There’s a handful of schools with great Marching Bands (Ohio State, USC, and a few others). We should celebrate one of our distinctive advantages not cover it up with ^+%*.

I think there should be a nice blend of both. That being said, I think that the Warchant is played too often. I know, I may be in the minority about it but we could use more crowd noise after 1st and 2nd down. Save the chant for after big plays such as a sack, crucial red zone defensive stand, etc..

Kind of agree with that.

I can also see why the warchant would be annoying as hell to a non-Seminole.

Oh this should be interesting....

They definitely do play the Warchant too much, and it should never be played while we are on offense on crucial downs which happened last weekend.

I would like to hear more music over the PA system and less videos of student athletes trying to guess some song.

Agreed, and it's getting worse. In the NBA, I believe they've started playing music while the game is going on! Ugh! I'm a proud, euro-white male, age 62.

Agree on the Warchant, maybe play it only at the beginning of each defensive series and the start of each half.

Got to play it when the other teams offense is in a tense situation though. Nothing better than when the warchant starts blaring as a dazed QB is picking himself up off the turf, about to face 3rd and 20.

I agree with that for sure. But not when its 2nd & 4.

I am 60 and a Marching Chief alumni. For the most part, I think there is a good mix of Chiefs and stadium music. Keep in mind that the Chiefs perform before the game at the baseball stadium, the halftime show, and at various times throughout the game, which varies depending on how big/close the game is and whether the other team's band is there. Like with any band, you have to have some rest time.

Just a question, are the Chiefs playing less time than they used to?

Oh my god, I was going to post that they don't play the warchant enough!!

Most games our crowd is half asleep and the warchant is the only thing that can coax them into movement and making audible sounds other than "down in front".

Also, it is INSANELY annoying for opponents and their fans. I don't think you guys understand how much it gets under their skin. For a taste of it, go to a Southern Cal game. They play that one damn song so many times you want to shoot yourself. It was that day that I realized the true power of our warchant.

I'll agree that at times, the warchant fades out as the other team comes to the line of scrimmage and the crowd is left clueless, the noise reduces and then climbs back up as the disoriented masses remember they can still make noise even if their arm isn't moving back and forth. No idea how people haven't figured out how to seamlessly transition from yelling the warchant to yelling random noise! Rookies!

I still wish they'd show the in game stats we used to see.
Instead I get about 5 tweets repeated for better than two hours.
Wasted real estate.

I'm 63 and find the recorded music irritating.

I actually prefer the Seminole Sound at basketball games over the full Marching Chiefs we see at football games since they are more rapid fire, less structured and easier to hear.

When they start up with Seminole Uprising I get excited, I love that song the best.

That’s literally the only song Dunnigan wrote in his 20+ years at FSU that is decent. Everything else good was Carter or written by someone else.

I say play what the team likes. They're the ones who need to be fired up.
Couldn't care less what the fans want. It's not a concert, it's a football game.

51 yo WASP, likes: long walks on the beach, dislikes: rude people.

oh, wait...

As much as I love it, the warchant itself isn't loud enough to disrupt the other offense IMHO. I usually start clapping and screaming when the team gets their signal from the sideline up until the snap. My wife refuses to go to games.

Dude, you are 53??? It would be amazing if I was in your shape when I am 53. Hell, let's face it, I wasn't in your shape when I was 23, LOL. Hope all is well, brother.

Yes sir, 53! Just turned it this month. All is well. Just enjoying the semi-retired life. Golf, a little bit of work and spending time with family and friends.

Rocky Top is much the same way. After that Fiesta Bowl, I can barely stand it.

Cheifs need to come up with a new unique cheer, not that horrible 'traditional' FSU cheer (that is the Go Pack Go cheer). School of Music should have a contest for the best new cheer for new books.

Also, the players probably want some modern music, so. There needs to be a balance.
