Taco Bell Named America's Favorite Mexican Restaurant

Enchirito, Mexican Pizza, Gordita, Soft Taco are all still fantastic items.

They've also got fantastic hot sauce.

I don't pay attention to all the new school stuff they're promoting.

I will say, my go to if I'm headed home after a long day is the BellGrande and a couple soft taco supremes. Not that I qualify this as Mexican food, but it's Mexican-ish and passable in a pinch.

Would you pass Taco Bueno or Taco Cabana to go to Bell? Not me

If I had to choose between the Taco Bell, Chipotle and Moe's, I would probably pick the Bell too. Was there an option to vote for non of the above?

I’m not much of a fan of TexMex and CalMex especially compared to actual Mexican cuisines, New Mexican (which I like better than actual Mexican), or ZonaMex/Navajo, but if I HAVE to eat ^*%* corporate TexMex I’ll go with Tijuana Flats. If I need a drive through then Del Taco is basically a Taco Bell with actually semi decent ingredients.

I've never found Tijuana Flats to be particularly good. Lots of local taco joints around town I would go to first.

I go there for the Cinnabon delights.

U ghh I rarely eat there . I did try a Del taco recently , guess they are making a come back. I remember eating there as a kid. Much better imo.

Their regular Smack my @^+ and Call Me Sally habanero sauce is one of, if not my very top favorite, hot sauce.

As for the rest of the food, I agree it’s bland like most TexMex but unlike the other chains like Moes and Chipotle, the ingredients are usually pretty fresh and ripe.

Taco Bell has a special place in my heart for all the stops I made there in college. I do not visit frequently but for nostalgia I'll go. I just get the crunch taco and Mexican Pizza. I do not touch the new stuff.

Not a chance. Local ranking for fast Mexican food would be Bueno, Taco Delite, Taco Cabana. There's a Bell about 3/4 mile from my house, so it's a once every couple months thing. Something to be said for beef that comes from cows, cheese that's actually shredded in house, etc.

Del Taco tried in vein to infiltrate that North Texas market a few years back. I actually liked getting a burrito and a side of crinkle fries, or a cheeseburger with nachos. The ones around my area just suffered from awful management - these places were routinely understaffed and the wait times were unbearable. Guessing that's why they all went belly up and Pollo Regio and Grandy's took their spots.

Not familiar with either of those establishments.

I would take DelTaco over Taco Bell though.

Texas based fast Mexican food. Tex is missing home. Both started in Texas and have locations predominantly in the US Southwest. I do think both would do substantially well in Florida - Taco Cabana breakfast tacos especially.

Taco Bueno Mexi Dips and Chips with a frozen lemonade was my dashboard dining choice back in the day. Still miss it! My job meant I was driving a lot and ate in the car. Back and forth from Plano to Flower Mound, Coppell, and Valley Ranch. So Taco B. Or Sonic was it for me.

Taco Cabana tried a test concept in the Mandarin area of Jacksonville called Cabana Grill. When my wife and I found out it was opening we were all about it and expected it to be somewhat the same as Taco C.

It didn't last. Menu had some of the same items as a regular Taco C but some different ones. They did have the same barbacoa and brisket breakfast tacos. Those were money.

Taco Bueno would kill it out here. I think the furthest East you can see those is in Louisiana or Mississippi. Maybe one day they will creep out here.

I've heard about Taco Delite from friends back home. Never been to one but they all say it's awesome.

Best tacos I ever had in Dallas came from a carniceria off Central and Spring Valley. The cabrito was friggin amazing.

Just for fun, a few weeks back, had to stop at the Taco Bueno near 635 and Monfort. Man, that area is still depressing. Check out what's being done to Valley View if you haven't looked it up recently. Already starting the demolition.

Surprised you never found your way to one in East Plano or Spring Creek/Coit. Hell, there was one at Preston and Lebanon when you were at BridgeSpan.

I don't remember a Taco Delite being around there before I left. I may have been oblivious to it. That was 14 years ago next month.

Valley View has been depressing for 25 years. They finally just decided to do something about it.
