In town once a month on business, but not enough to know the comings and goings. Mom is in extended care on the north side of town and she's not into fancy schmancy. Preferably locally owned but not Nicholsons, Barnaby's, Rodizios, Barnacle Bills or Prince Murat room service.

Fine dining: Cypress or Sage. Barbecue: Miision on Magnolia. Italian Mom and Dads or ZBardis. Ted’s Montana Grill for some unique meats.

Mission has far better sauces, sides and pork (both pulled, ribs and sausage) than Four Rivers. But Four Rivers does beat it (typically, I’ve had some bad) when it comes to beef whether brisket, “bronto” rib or tri-tip with chimichurri. So for me, I’ll go to Mission frequently and to Four Rivers on the rarer times I’m in the mood for bbq beef.

Cypress is definitely Tally’s best fine dining option with Sage as a good backup, but I go to Avenue Eat and Drink(now closed) more often as it’s a little cheaper and almost as good as Cypress.

Ted’s is definitely Tally’s best steak place although for ambience Shula’s is a better first date or business meeting place.

In addition to what you mentioned, I would say Azu is the best restaurant for Chinese and has decent sushi to go with it. Tan’s Asian Cafe has some great Indonesian dishes but I’d pass up their Chinese and Japanese for Azu. Real Sarap has some great Filipino food and Samrat(closed) has the best Indian food I’ve had in Florida. For seafood we don’t really have a good high end place but Shell Oyster Bar is a fantastic cheap southern fried place (bring cash) and Harry’s is pretty good as a Cajun/Creole seafood place. Arepana has some great arepas and usually the best fried yucca I’ve had. For pizza I will go to Momo’s, Blaze, Mellow Mushroom and Gaines Street Pie as well as we have got lots of good pizza with different styles but the best is Isabelle’s for the thin Naples style. For burgers I really enjoy The Southern which is a nice foodie bistro pub, Teds and Burger Fi.

We don’t have any truly great Italian (Mom and Dad’s is decent low end Italian if you stick to their marinara sauce, meatballs and gnocci), good Greek or good Cuban unlike most of Florida.

Best kept secret in Tally is Clusters and Hops....tiny little joint with great food and fantastic wine selection if you drink the grapes.

Well's Brothers for lunch. Great burgers, nice outdoor seating. Love sitting outside and drinking beer in the cool weather.
I'm thinking of trying Bird's Aphrodisiac Oyster Shack - good reviews on yelp

Birds is good, but I like the burgers and atmosphere better at Monks.
Birds outdoor seating is by Bronough St. traffic as opposed to Monks where its at the back of the building with cornhole, etc.
Gordos has a good burger/atmosphere.

Had Persis Biryani again yesterday for lunch, very very good.
Went to Backwoods Crossing last weekend for a birthday party and it was great, everyone loved their meal.

Not the north side, but I always consider Kool Beanz, Paisley Cafe, and Real Sarap when I'm in town for football weekends.

Thanks for the recs guys, ended up at Brickyard. Was a bit of a disappointment. Got the supreme, thin crust which we like. But you should be able to lift the slice to your mouth without half the toppings sliding off the end, i.e. center undercooked. Probably should have gone to Gordos, didn't realize there was one up north

Of the places I listed Brickyard is one of two I haven't been to(Siam Bistro the other), so I apologize. I only listed it because I couldn't bring myself to list Momo's anymore. Hasn't been good in a while and friends have had the same experience recently. I do like Dave's Pizza Garage and usually go a couple times a month. I share the same disdain for thin, floppy crust.

Used to go to Brickyard and Momo's before we moved, both were decent. Might have been a bad night, although a poorly baked center is a fairly basic principle to be aware of.
