Florida State junior guard Ta’Niya Latson was among the 15 players selected by the Associated Press to the 2024-25 Women’s Basketball All-America team. Makayla Timpson was an honorable mention.
Earning second-team honors, Latson became Florida State’s only first, second or third team All-American by the AP in program history after being named an honorable mention in the previous two seasons. Timpson earns her first career All-America recognition.
The Seminoles have had multiple players recognized for the fourth time in history, and first since 2018.
Latson was also named a second-team All-American by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
As the nation’s leading scorer at 24.9 points per game, Latson leads the highest-scoring Power 4 offense in the country at 87.2 points per game.
Latson became the fastest to score 2,000 points in Florida State basketball history after posting 23 points against No. 3 Notre Dame and now has 2,037 for her career. She became the third player in ACC history to hit 2,000 points in the first three seasons, and first since Alaina Beard of Duke (2000-04).
This season, Latson led a record-setting offense that produced seven 100-point games, the most in program history. The Seminoles hold the top scoring average by almost four points and have set single-game records in three-pointers made (18) and points scored (119).
Latson scored a career-high, 40 points against Virginia Tech, tying the program record for most points scored in a game that was set by Natasha Howard against Syracuse in 2014. She also earned the fourth triple-double in program history in the win over Gonzaga at the Paradise Jam and has five double-doubles in her career.
A Naismith Player of the Year semifinalist, Latson is also a finalist for the 2025 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award for the third time in her career. She was named All-ACC First Team.
Timpson is the only player in the country averaging at least 17.0 points per game, 10.0 rebounds per game and 3.0 blocks per game. She is also the only player with three eight-block performances this season.
The Edison, Ga., native owns the FSU career records for double-doubles (46) and rebounds (1,074). This season, Timpson bested the single season blocks record, a mark she set last season (87).
With 99 blocks, Timpson leads Power 4 players and averages 3.2 blocks per game.
In the ACC quarterfinal, Timpson swatted eight blocks, tying the ACC Tournament record that was set in 2015. She was named All-Tournament Second Team.
