The Official LR College Gameday Drinking Game Thread.

Not making a bowl should force mass dismissals. You can't hold FSU hostage so that the salary for Jimbo and his assistant coaches are competitive and then not produce. This regime has been expensive for alumni

Add FAU to the list of Florida teams better than we are. They're up 41-7 at halftime.

At this point, making a bowl means virtually nothing. Yeah, it would keep the streak alive, but it's best it would be a crap bowl where we'll lose money paying for the trip

Yet, here we are facing the real possibility that we don’t make a bowl game and our HC is getting into arguments with fans.

That little tantrum has soured me on Jimbo.

It really did for me too. I've always thought him to be a pretty good head coach who has the potential to be a great one if he'd recognize his weaknesses and hire assistants who offset them, but you just can't do what he did. It really gives the look of things spiraling out of control, whether or not they actually are.

Bowden never would have acted like that, but did have his weaknesses. He was absolutely fantastic at getting the right assistants in place. It built the dynasty. Loyalty is generally a good thing. Both coaches weaknesses are loyalty to a fault and failure to recognize their own weaknesses. I guess most accomplished people have trouble recognizing their weaknesses and being able to make tough business decisions about those close to them. It is a fine balance. Saban partially owes his success to the ability to be almost robot like, tune out loyalty and emotion and be an A-hole whenever he needs to be to succeed. Not sure I would want a Saban level A-hole, but would like to see Jimbo to take more responsibility and make tough decisions. I love the way he tough coaches his QBs and stays on them. Wish he would be as hard on the assistants and then "bench" those who don't perform.

Yeah, I’d HATE for the Noles to be a perennial powerhouse and in the national championship mix every single year.

Give me the most cold blooded football CEO money can buy.

Bowden absolutely got pissy about the Jeff criticism. I get that Jimbo is loyal to his friends. It sucks, but firing underperformers is part of the job.

Yep. Bowden had my total respect until he failed to admit the mistake with Jeff and correct it. It wasn't the hiring of Jeff (though a big mistake) that was his ultimate demise, it was his failure to admit or correct the mistake. I'm still hoping Jimbo will acknowledge mistakes and take steps to correct them. If he wants to be big time and be paid big time, he needs to man up. I think he has the potential, but honestly I don't know if he will.

The record this year will necessitate firings. If Jimbo chooses to get rid of the wrong people, he will lose me. Bowden throwing Heggins under the bus to buy Jeff time was when he lost me.

Yep, the only disloyal move I can recall him making (though Heggins officially resigned) to cover up the mistakes of his son. Heggins recruited and coached some very good O-lines. Jeff's predictable playcalling of course put the O-line at a tremendous disadvantage. Hell, a 10 year old could have predicted the only 3 plays Jeff had in his offensive scheme. Hmmmm, are they going to go up the middle, sweep, or chuck and pray?

With Jimbo's contract, we can't afford to make any quick decisions. The potential is there for things to get really, really ugly.
