The Official LR College Gameday Drinking Game Thread!

I am proud to be a Nole today. We grew up today and showed some grit. Maybe our season isn't lost after all
I agree. Watching on tv today I realized it still matters to me. Tough deal for u to sit thru live. But I am encouraged about the team. They actually seemed to know what they were doing today.

Saw both versions of the Offense. Saw improvement on the defense (and know which DB is the weakest). Also more footage on an Online and who specifically needs to be pulled from the field (tip, he was holding most of the game and was responsible for almost 2 fumbles). Francois seemed to have lost all the pop in his throw in the second half. WT needs to coach himself up, he started playing not to lose in the 3rd, had a bunch of mediocre plays that need to get tossed out of the playbook, and needs to stop calling plays of 4 yards when it is 3-13. He definitely has some room to improve as well.

However, there was still lots of positives to help boost the season. After watching UT win, I just hoped we'd keep it close. FSU exceeded that in the first but let it get away in the second. Got robbed by the refs. Way to get in the game ref.

A bowl game will require wins against Wake and BC and stealing the NC St or Turd game. Clemson and ND are slam dunk losses. How the mighty have fallen when all we want are 6 wins.

They should not have to challenge that...these clowns just reviewed an out of bounds spot.
Serious question. Has the challenge rule been changed so that coaches can’t throw the flag anymore? Surely someone in our coaches box would have alerted WT to throw the flag on the double pass play. Does anyone know?
I don’t think he has challenged a call all season

We did some things better today, like return punts, but our old weaknesses are still obvious. 200 yards of total offense means we got whipped up front...again. We lost the turnover battle...again. We missed a critical field goal...again. Francois showed he's a tough kid but a mediocre QB...again.

I'm not smart enough to tell whether our problems are a lack of talent or poor coaching or some of both, and I don't think that will be clear for another year. But for a team that was supposed to be entering the year with the fifth best talent in college football, it's hard not to think that our coaches shouldn't be getting better production, particularly on offense.

Oh my friend, it's definitely lost. Have you SEEN the schedule? How are we going to get 3 wins out of that set?

The team is getting better, despite having no offensive tackles.
We were up 27-7 against Miami in the third quarter. It looked like we were on the verge of blowing them out, and it wasn’t because of an avalanche of turnovers. In fact, it was turnovers and the ref screw job that kept them in the game ultimately.
But ultimately I don’t like how Willie played it out. When we were up 27-7, halfway through the 3rd quarter it was time to let the air out of the ball. Cam busts off a 13 yard run on first down and looks fresh as hell dragging dudes. I’m waiting to see him and Patrick start pounding and demoralizing UM with each play burning close to 30 seconds off the clock.
Then we throw on 4 of the next 5 plays.
Incomplete
4 yard run by Cam
Sack fumble
Sack
Interception
Dammit. That let them back in the game when they were completely on their heels.
Would’ve been nice to flip that ratio in that situation.

I graduated in the 60s, so I've seen plenty of losing. I think the struggle for most of us at this point is trying to reconcile how a team with as much supposed talent coming into the year can continue to find ways to lose. I know the slide started before this year, and I realize that Taggart and his crew weren't dealt a full deck, but after today's second half meltdown, I fear we're in a much deeper hole than we thought.

For those bagging on WT for not challenging the forward lateral call, apparently he did. The ACC refs told him it wasn't close, denied. Source - other competing FSU site.

Hope to hear this week about him putting the ACC refs on blast. Feel even more like they inserted themselves into the game and took away all momentum and swung the score. However 2 TO basically in the red zone and ANOTHER poor punt coverage situation didn't help either.

edit - and they were damn sure getting away with some shady late hits in the first which clearly had an impact on at least 1 dropped pass later. Credit to Miami, they bent the rules until they got called out.

Sorry to sound like a broken record, but what about the genius trick play? So after this, in fourth quarter, trying to stop their comeback, WT and staff made a gutsy call and the players execute to perfection. Huge touchdown that should have been play of the game....and iced the game. Called back.

It was a great call that should have broken their backs.
I don’t think he should have turtled after they came back to within a score. That’s a totally different situation because so few possessions are left.
We had stayed on top of all Miami’s trick plays and caught them coming downhill with ours.
But that ain’t the kind of play that gets the QB blindsided...

This was one of my least favorite losses of the last 40 years. This team played 100 times better than all the experts thought they could play. At times we saw what the offense might be and enjoyed some inspired defense.

Anyone who is disappointed in this loss, I feel you fellow fan, it stinks. All those criticizing anyone other than those thieving refs , you can STHU ( that heck was for you @DFSNOLE ) . This team played hard , showed improvement from last week to this and is getting better, I believe in the direction of the team and am confident we will get better and within 3 years win the #100pagesnatty

Who?

It's sad to see you've lowered your standards so much that FSU having 3 losses by the first week of October is acceptable to you...

Geez, sports center just showed the call with a line indicating it was a forward pass. Screw that channel.

I didn't see the Sportscenter drawn line, but the line drawn on the televised broadcast looked to me like it was a few inches backwards. I guess it was arguable, but it damn sure wasn't "wasn't close" as the officials said when they refused to review it.

It certainly was a play that should've been reviewed; it was a potentially game-changing play that was extremely close. That said, there's no way a booth review is going to change what was called on the field; there's simply not overwhelming evidence one way or the other. If the field official had ruled it a lateral & a good touchdown, that ruling would've stood, too.
