Any fans?

My DVR records all Austin City Limits episodes. Last night I was watching some of them and came across "The War on Drugs." I really dug what I heard. Now I'm listening to their catalog on Spotify. So much great stuff!

Sounds like a mix of the best of the Dire Straits & the Traveling Wilburys (Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison), if the Wilburys were a bit more Indie Rock.

Really, really dig the lead singer's guitar playing too. Sounds David Gilmour/Mark Knopfleresque (to me).

I'm surprised you're just now being introduced to them. Seems like a band that would have been on your radar for awhile. Enjoy!

Yeah, I felt the same way...like I should've already known them.

I've heard one of their songs on Alt Nation, on Sirius, somewhat regularly in the recent past but I never investigated them. Definitely been missing out.

Not necessarily their best song, but a good live performance that shows, among other things:
  • Their overall sound - so much like The Wilburys/Dylan/Dire Straits, IMO
  • Excellent guitar lead. Just plain excellent
  • Super tasty bass licks
  • Intricate phrasing
