Jimbo Fisher post-practice interview:

LATE REPORT

While sophomore running back Dalvin Cook is still listed as day-to-day, there's a chance junior defensive back Nate Andrews could play Saturday, Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said when he addressed the media after Thursday's practice.

Fisher said Andrews, who was diagnosed with a bone bruise, healed better than he thought and could see action against Miami. Fisher officially listed Andrews as questionable. During Fisher's Wednesday call-in show, he said Andrews along with linebacker Terrance Smith were not expected to play.

"See, with bone bruises, I've had them go from four-to-six weeks and I've had them go for a week," Fisher said. "What's funny is some of them look on the MRIs like that's a bad one. Three days later, a guy's playing. I've seen little ones and two weeks later, he's still not playing."

Cook's situation has not changed. Fisher said he wants to how Cook feels over the next day or so before making a decision. Fisher said Cook practiced Wednesday and was active again during Thursday's session.

"He was fine and took some reps," Fisher said. "Just waiting. All of that is day-to-day...you have to see how sore he is tomorrow. How is it affecting him and those types of thing."

When asked if Cook has a "decent" chance at playing, Fisher joked if he knew, he'd sleep better.

Staying with the running backs, Fisher said redshirt junior Mario Pender was out of the hospital and lost more than 15 pounds. There's no timetable for when Pender will return from a collapsed lung he suffered at practice during FSU's bye week.

Fisher said offensive lineman Kareem Are is day-to-day with a knee ailment. He noted offensive lineman Chad Mavety has performed well at practice and Fisher said he was pleased with Mavety's progress.

EARLY REPORT

The big news today is that Dalvin Cook was participating in the early portion of practice in shells. He was taking third-team reps behind Vickers and Patrick. Moved around well, but didn't go wide open during the portions we saw.

Nate Andrews also was in shells and working out, but he had a big knee brace on. Not sure if he's doing everything or not.

In the bad news department, Kareem Are was limping pretty badly and bad a big knee brace on. Looked like Mavety and Bell were the starting guards, but the OL went to work inside where we couldn't see them.

Will have more when Jimbo talks around 6.
