LATE UPDATE

Fisher opens by saying he thought it was one of the best days of camp the team has had to this point.

As for missing players, Fisher says Cole Minshew will be back soon. He also says Andrew Boselli could either return quickly or be out for "a couple days." Fisher adds Dontavious Jackson will be "a while" while he expects Matthew Thomas to be back "very, very soon."

Fisher talks about having tackle Brock Ruble line up at guard. Says Ruble brings size and length. Also talks about his experience. Says he's looked really good at guard.

He got asked about what he's liked now that FSU is at the end of camp. Fisher said he's appreciated the consistency, the team's ability to be coached and pushed. He noted that the team still wants to work hard regardless of if it was a good or bad day of practice.

Fisher is then asked about going from the preseason to preparing for an actual opponent. He says the transition from fall camp to Week 1 can feel like "the light of the end of the tunnel" in terms of going forward. Also says those factors plus the start of school can also create a different feel.

He gets asked about Derwin James' versatility and how its similar to the NBA having no "true centers" or "true point guards" in terms of having guys who can play all over. He said we see it frequently in high school where coaches will move players around to get them touches.

Fisher also says receiver George Campbell is "in a good place" in regards to his health. Says he's coming back well from the core muscle injury and that he had a few good catches in today's practice.

EARLY UPDATE

Florida State's final open preseason practice Thursday was held inside the Al and Judy Dunlap Indoor Practice Facility due to the threat of poor weather. Dark grey clouds were coming from the south and started to creep near campus yet it never rained during open portion.

The Seminoles saw the return of redshirt junior tight end Ryan Izzo. As for a certain linebacker from Miami, he was not at practice again (although we keep hearing he will return).

Now for the news:

>Sophomore placekicker Ricky Aguayo was 4-of-5 from field goals in the open portion. He missed his final attempt which came from about 45 yards out. Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher voiced his happiness with Aguayo after each attempt.

>Derrick Kelly and Josh Ball took snaps at left tackle while Landon Dickerson and Ethan Frith were at left guard. Alec Eberle and Corey Martinez were at center. Brock Ruble [no, your eyes are not playing tricks on you] and Mike Arnold each took reps at right guard. Rick Leonard and Abdul Bello rounded out the group by taking snaps at right tackle.

>We've noted in the past how much better Eberle has looked this camp. He was really quick today in terms of his footwork and his snaps. He was really quick getting off the ball while making hard, fast snaps with ease.

>The defensive ends went through more drills with the tackling dummies. Much of their work dealt with weaving between the dummies and using their arms and legs. The two who looked the part today were Joshua Kaindoh and Jalen Wilkerson. Kaindoh is typically one of the better performers in camp whereas Wilkerson might have consistently been the quickest when it came to his arms and hands.

>Charles Kelly had the defensive backs work on positioning. Essentially, two defensive backs were paired up as if they were a defensive back and a receiver. The goal for the defensive back was to either pick off the pass or cause a break-up. We saw a few guys get some altitude but there was no one who really stood out.

>Ro'Derrick Hoskins and Jacob Pugh looked strong during read and react drills. What's impressive is how they're able to get so low. Pugh, who is 6-foot-4 and 229 pounds, looks a lot like a person who's rather uncomfortable in an airplane seat. Yet he's able to get out of his stance and keep position in one smooth motion.

We're set to grab Fisher sometime around 7 p.m. Until then, bye for now.
