Neighbor across the street put up full house of Christmas lights etc yesterday

Thanksgiving barely exists anymore, literally the day after Halloween I saw Walmart and CVS removing Halloween stuff to insert Christmas junk.

I’m by no means anti-Christmas and enjoy the holiday, but I HATE “The Holidays” meaning months and months of terrible music and fake greetings. It should be Christmas Eve, Christmas and then bam back to regular living.

A relative, if he had his way, would have put the lights up on Christmas Eve and taken them down the day after Christmas. He simply did not like Christmas. I have no idea why. As it was his wife managed a two week window of Christmas decorations. Week before Christmas and down on New Year's Day.

Personally I start putting decorations up a couple of days before Thanksgiving and turn them on the day after. They stay up through Epiphany which is Jan 6.

Used to work at Publix...When the warehouse sends holiday product in bulk ahead of time, management pushes it out to the sales floor ASAP
(lobby and aisle-end displays, etc.) to get it out of the back room. I assume this occurs with retailers across the board.

You should burn their house down. If you have any kind of skilz, you can make it look like the fire started from a short in the way-too-early Christmas lights

I would take a tire iron and start breaking the windows on their car while yelling "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU .... SOMEONE IN THE ... "!!!!

why even bother to take them down?

Exactly, “the Holidays” has gotten ridiculous. If anything it should be limited to the week before Christmas to Jan 2nd and that’s it. Instead it’s basically Nov 1 through late January if it even stops then.

Exactly. The commercialization of the xmas is tiresome. It's basically a way to extract money from people's bank accounts, loosely associated with a history religious event.
I take it you won't be showing up to your local Wal Mart midnight Black Friday??

I put up a lot of lights and don’t start setting up until the weekend before Thanksgiving. I then light it all up Thanksgiving night.

However, I do some early prep work inside to get organized.

Out of those 4 photos above I choose the tortoise

Pic 1- I cant understand what the English are saying, plus there food is blah

Pic 2- Fred Sanford didn’t like aunt Esther and I agree with him

Pic 3- see Lorena bobbit, I would have to sleep with one eye open

Pic 4- not overly attractive, but low maintenance
Plus she doesn’t speak so I would win all arguments

I choose the tortoise!

Are they from India? We have a lot of lights up in our subdivision but it is for the Indian Diwali celebration.

Dude, a 4:43 am post and it’s coherent!

Bravo!

No not Indian, I think it has to do with his occupation

He is an engineer on a yacht and gone for months at a time, so maybe he’s gonna be gone during Christmas, and he put them up for the family
