Who has them, what's the best brand, where to buy them, what's a good price, self install or hire a pro?

Had them at my old house. Don’t remember the brand. Professional install. Didn’t like them. Always looked bunchy in weird places.

We're they honeycomb? I'm getting new windows installed that can be opened from the top or bottom, so I'm thinking the tdbu blinds would be good to have...

I got the top down bottom up with cord (so not cordless which is extra $$$ but more importantly harder to install as you need to build in the track) with double cellular walls for complete blackout and best insulation. I installed them myself as the corded variety is quite easy to do. I bought them from Blinds.com for $145 each (price depends on size).

I sent you some pics. During the daytime you can’t see the Color well (mine are glacier white) as the outside is too bright, but you’ll get the gist. I can send more at night if you remind me.

Saw them. Lol. The strings on the top don't get in the way of you want to open the top part of the window? I kind of like the idea of them being in a track.

No the strings never get in the way, now that it’s getting darker I’ll take some clearer shots of them. I’m sure the tracked version would be a better end product, just a nightmare to install compared to the corded variety.

Can't be that difficult. Can it? I watched a youtube video. You set the top left bracket, then the left track. Then the top right bracket and the right track. Then you pop in your blind and put in the bottom cap pieces. I mean, it looks simple...

I watched a 2 minute video on how to clean a shark. Maybe only 90 seconds. Two or three quick cuts and some pulling and a whole shark was quickly and efficiently cleaned on the video. An hour and two full knives later I had SOME mutilated bits of shark flesh.

Lol.

Well I’ll say this, the corded ones took much longer than I thought and didn’t just easily pop in. It did get quicker as I did more, but I’d still say the last one (we replaced 10) took 15 mins to take down the old blinds and get the new ones in. The cordless ones are definitely more work than the corded ones, but if you’re game and have some decent handyman experience I think they would be doable.

I’ll still send you some more pics once it’s dark outside and you can actually see the corded variety au naturale. And no the cords don’t get in the way. The left side pulls the bottom up and down and the right side moves the top.

Got this style installed in the new house. Roman style shades. They are awesome. No more crappy looking venetian blinds, slats, or cords for me! I like how you can push then all the way up for max light, or pull the top down for some light and still have some privacy. They are very versatile and look much better than blinds.

I'd imagine you'll get through it fine. Hell, I remember a few years ago some idiot on here decided he was gonna build a deck at his house, even though he didn't even know which end of a hammer to hold. He survived, you will too.

We have Hunter Douglas honeycomb top down bottom up blinds (no cord) in all our bedrooms. We really like them. We also had them in our home in Oregon. We used Budget Blinds both times (although I don't really think their name fits the "bill" or that they meet everyone's "budget"). lol

You need a Snickers...

We made an bit more of an investment and got the shutters. Also did it at our last house. They have a wood composite that is really durable and has a lifetime warranty. They look good as well.

Pics?

This is one area the Euros have the best solution, their roll down shutters are incredible. Your room can be pitch black in the middle of the day if you want it to be.
