While season 2 was a crap show, I'm willing to give season 3 a chance. Season 1 was still one of the best seasons of TV I've seen in a long time.

Only season I've seen recently of TV that is on par with True Detective season 1 is The Leftovers season 2.

Yeah, Season 1 may have been Lightning in a bottle. Season 2 was terrible.

I heard season 1 basically took Pizzolato much of his life to form, write, and create before he actually got a chance to produce it. Season 2 was made in a hurry and obviously stunk. So I hope he's had time to really let the ideas simmer and develop.

I totally get it and I almost did the same thing. I didn't like season 1 almost at all, but season 2 was incredible.

Season 1 did not do much to draw me in. So much so that I did not even watch season 2 until season 3 was well underway. Glad I did. Every episode in season 2 was great.
