LATE UPDATE

Fisher opens by saying the team got quite a bit done today as far as situational play.

In terms of personnel, he says freshman tight end Alexander Marshall is out for quite a few weeks after hurting his finger. Marshall had a cast on his hand and wrist during Sunday's open practice. Meanwhile, running back/fullback Jonathan Vickers and linebacker Matthew Thomas were both out with an illness as well.

Fisher also spends some time talking about receivers Tamorrion Terry and D.J. Matthews. Says Matthews is still out with a hamstring while Terry has impressed through the early portion of camp to this point.

He talked about Logan Tyler and said Tyler is starting to come along well in terms of his abilities.

Fisher says the team had a good demeanor about practice. He said the team was good about having to go inside for practice only to go back outside after the poor weather passed through the area. "This team is good about when you say things to them, it clicks. It's an intelligent team."

Also, he says the team is set to scrimmage on Sunday.

EARLY UPDATE

Anyone in the Tallahassee area knows rain was in the forecast Tuesday and it certainly impacted Florida State's late afternoon practice.

FSU took the field with gray skies but once the rain and nearby flashes of lightning arose, the Seminoles moved practice inside. The team was in full pads as its expected today might be one of the longer days of the preseason. FSU has typically ended practice around 6:40 but today should end sometime after 7 p.m.

Now, for the news:

>Brian Burns, Joshua Kaindoh and Josh Sweat returned to practice. All three were at Sunday's open practice but would eventually miss out at various points. They all appeared to be active in drills from what we could see and did not show any signs of discomfort. Meanwhile, Hamsah Nasirldeen remained in a blue jersey but was still physical during drills.

>Let's start with the quarterbacks. Watching Deondre Francois, James Blackman and Bailey Hockman is pretty interesting. Francois is clearly and easily the most refined of the three and it shows with his footwork and accuracy. Blackman has touch on the ball and can get some power behind it whereas Hockman has a lot of power on his throws.

>The quarterbacks were able to work with the receivers on red zone situations. There were quite a few back shoulder throws and a number of receivers who managed to get their feet inside while catching the pass.

>FSU's running backs worked on blitz pickups and the biggest takeaway was seeing the speed of certain guys around the edge. Amir Rasul was arguably the fastest player to go around the corner with Cam Akers coming a really close second.

>The defensive tackles spent time going technique work in regards to their arms and hands. Much of it was about staying in their stance to gain leverage while using their length to control an opponent's upper body as well.

>It was interesting watching the linebackers. They used open practice to work on dropping back into coverage while operating out of a zone defense. The linebackers have used much of the preseason to work on details regarding space and timing.

>The defensive ends went through their normal drills of using dummies to simulate offensive linemen in an attempt to attack the quarterback. The group also spent time working on how to set the edge and operating in space.

>We saw the offensive linemen get in more work on blocking double teams. Rick Leonard and Josh Ball continue to be the options at left tackle while Landon Dickerson and David Robbins get time at left guard. Alec Eberle, who once again looked really fluid, and Baveon Johnson were at center alongside Cole Minshew and Andrew Boselli at right guard. Derrick Kelly and Brock Ruble/Jauan Williams saw time at right tackle. [saw Ruble in early practice but once the team went inside, it was hard to get a good look at him from where we were allowed to stand.]
