Jimbo was happy with the enthusiasm and intensity at practice today: "Got juice, got effort, got physical. Turned completely live at some times. We wanted to let them go live one last time. Offense and defense got better. Got better at some things."

Long list of guys that Jimbo said stood out: Jalen Ramsey, Derwin James, Rick Leonard (more on him later), Demarcus Walker, Keith Bryant, Kareem Are, Wilson Bell, Rod Johnson, Ja'Vonn Harrison, Travis Rudolph, Bobo Wilson, Sean Maguire, Dalvin Cook, Mario Pender and Jacques Patrick.

We mentioned earlier this week that Derwin James has moved around a little bit in the later stages of spring practice, which didn't seem like the plan to open spring. Freshmen usually stick at one spot to learn it before taking on anything else. "Derwin's a smart guy," Fisher said. "Derwin gets it. And he's a competitor ... He's doing some different things. He's a smart guy, now."

A lot of talk about Rick Leonard today. Jimbo raved about his motor and his size. "Ricky Leonard is going to be a heck of a football player, first and foremost because it means something to him. It's very important to him to play and he plays that way. He likes football." Interesting note - Jimbo said Leonard stood out as a recruit because of some of his film as a lacrosse player in high school.

Chad Mavety was pulled out today. Doesn't sound like a new injury, just lingering effects from the previous concussion: "He got sick again today. He had some issues, started
throwing up, got dizzy so we pulled him back out."

This is the final set of spring practices notes we'll have for you guys. FSU is doing a walk-through tomorrow before the spring game but it will be closed to the media. Tomorrow's practice is in place of the practice canceled a couple weeks ago when everyone came down with GI issues.

Here's the most updated list of injuries I can give you. I might have missed one or two, but this should cover everyone. Some of these guys might make it back for Saturday and guys can always be injured between now and then, but this will be the final injury update we can give you:

Quarterback
John Franklin (shoulder)

Running back
Freddie Stevenson (hyperextended knee - out for spring)

Wide receiver
Da'Vante Phillips (groin surgery - out for spring)
Kermit Whitfield (hamstring)

Tight end
Ryan Izzo was in blue today
Jeremy Kerr

Offensive line
Ryan Hoefeld (meniscus - out for spring)
Derrick Kelly was at practice Wednesday and wearing thigh pads today, but not shoulder pads
Chad Mavety was being checked out for a concussion as we walked out.

Defensive tackle
Derrick Mitchell (back - out for spring)
Nile Lawrence-Stample (concussion)
Justin Shanks (wearing an arm sling today; a new injury)
Giorgio Newberry (academics - out for spring)
Demarcus Christmas

DE/OLB
Josh Sweat (ACL - out for spring)
Jacob Pugh (concussion)
Chris Casher (shoulder - out for spring)
Dalvin Purifoy

Linebacker
Terrance Smith (turf toe)
Reggie Northrup (ACL - out for spring. He was in shoulder pads today, but clearly not participating. Didn't even do jumping jacks during warm ups)
Matthew Thomas (shoulder - out for spring)

Defensive back
Calvin Brewton
Tyler Hunter (meniscus - out for spring)
Nate Andrews (ankle)
Ryan Green
Colin Blake (shoulder - out for spring)

On to the notes about the guys who were there:
Chad Mavety, who returned to practice on Wednesday but was working with the second team offensive line at RT, was working with the starters today. As mentioned above, he was getting checked out for a concussion when we left. We'll try to update that for you guys later today.

Can't recall if I've posted this before, but worth mentioning: When the offense was in a four-wide set, it was Travis Rudolph, Ermon Lane, Ja'Vonn Harrison and Bobo Wilson out there. I don't know if Kermit Whitfield would crack that group or not if he was healthy.

There was very heavy wind at practice today. On some kickoffs, you could see the ball almost stop in mid-air and hang there for a bit before falling straight down. It was not a normal day weather-wise.

2016 DE commit Josh Brown was hanging out at practice. Big kid.

Former FSU long snapper Philip Doumar was also at practice.
