Norvell wasn't scheduled to speak but held a quick impromptu Q&A

Noon -- Big chunk of today's practice focused on special teams, and we'll be writing about that later.

They did some more 11-on-11 toward the end.

Here are a few of the highlights:

Shyheim Brown had two more interceptions ... guy makes a lot of plays. One came after a really bad decision by Chubba, rolling one way and throwing back the other way. Those are the kinds of things Norvell is really working to correct with him and Tate.

Corbin and Toafili had a couple of nice runs

Milton had a really nice backshoulder throw that went to McClain for about 20 yards. Hunter Washington had good coverage, but better pass and catch.

Chubba came back and hit a couple of easy throws to McClain and Wyatt Rector

Tate had a series where he threw a nice ball down the sideline for Poitier, who couldn't make the play but was awarded a big gain on pass interference. A couple plays later, Tate was sacked by Josh Griffis. Then he got picked off by Shyheim near the goal line.

Milton then came back in and immediately connected with Helton on a bomb. Beautiful throw and catch.

Down near the goal line, the defense rose up and forced some incompletions and throwaways. Then Milton connected with Pokey Wilson on a nice TD in the back of the end zone.

The defense was doing a lot of trash talking today, and the offense started going back at them later in the practice. It was a spirited day.

9:50 a.m. -- McKenzie looked pretty good during the early 11-on-11 session today.

He started off by just missing a couple of sideline passes, where Camm McDonald and Pokey Wilson just couldn't make the catches in bounds.

He them had a really nice throw to Malik McClain for about 10-15 yards.

After just missing a throw to McDonald and having Kentron Poitier dropping a pass, Milton came right back to Poitier for a nice gain of about 20.

After overthrowing Darion Williamson on a pass where they might have been a little miscommunication, he then hit Wilson for a 15-yard gain over the middle.

Milton then threw one away due to pressure and hit Keyshawn Helton for a gain of about 10 on a slant. He then just missed a couple of possible TD throws ... McClain couldn't make a one-handed catch in the end zone, then Poitier was well covered on the next one. Travis Jay had good coverage on both of those throws.

One interesting note earlier ... a couple players got into a little scrape after a play, and Norvell made the whole team do pushups. The coaches are cracking down on those types of things that can lead to penalties in games.

There are Giants and Jags scouts here today. Saw a Bears scout yesterday.

About to get started … we’ll have updates around 9:30 or so.
