I think, based on all of the foreshadowing seen last night, that Rick's group wins this war. I'm sure, however that it will come at a heavy price. I'm just waiting to see who is killed and who survives. Was anybody else like me, telling Gabriel not to help Gregory, and wondering why he didn't fire his weapon as soon as he heard Neagan's voice?
I also found it interesting that Rick told Maggie that when this was over, he'd be following her.
Ok I said this in the other thread. Yes there has been a million chances to kill Negan. So much so that it is frustrating. But I think they think that is just too easy. Negan deserves something more. They came up with this elaborate plan and it wasn't to kill the leaders at that meeting. But to show that Negan is losing control. That they have all united against them.
What planet is Gregory on to think he had any pull with the Hilltoppers? And Father G was beyond stupid to stop and help that weasel.
I hated all the time jumping. It's annoying.
If that's what they're doing it's silly. Just kill the guy already or don't kill him. It's maddeningly stupid writing and I've got better things to do than be jerked around by TWD writers.
Like what?
Exactly. Its almost as stupid as Rick still being alive after he repeats every other episode how he is going to kill negan right to his face. Come on already. If that's what they're doing it's silly. Just kill the guy already or don't kill him. It's maddeningly stupid writing and I've got better things to do than be jerked around by TWD writers.
Reminds me of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time saga. The book series was suppose to be a trilogy and $omehow ended up 14 books. By book 6 or 7 it got too bloated, the characters had become caricatures, and the author had no desire to tie up the ever expanding plots with the ever expanding characters. By books 8-11, the entire series was a plodding, confusing mess of unresolved stories...and utterly boring. He died after 11th book and another author had to clean up the mess over three books. But the first 3-5 books were great...

I am in the minority here but I thought the episode was pretty good. After the opener last season they had a lot to live up to and the action in this one was pretty good. Sets the pace for a great season.
The easy lazy writing would be to just shoot him. That is likely what people would do in real life as well, however, this isn't real life, it is a long story that is meant to draw out a show. Now we get a full season of the war with Negan.
It's so tired and holds no weight anymore. If you don't want to kill off negan, then don't have him stand on a platform out in the open with a dozen plus weapons facing him. I'm sorry, that's just plain stupid.Ok, but then they need to stop with all the "I'm gonna kill you" and "Only one person needs to die" stuff.

Oh I agree the bravado etc doesn't match the action, esp after he was so beat down by Negan, but to actually expect Rick to just shoot Negan as he pops out is setting yourself up to be unhappy. Remember, its a drama!...![]()
exactly. I don't want them to just kill Negan, I want it to be a drawn out war. But that's right, don't just have him stroll out onto a platform after that group has already one shot sniped a ton of his generals and then have them all start shooting and suddenly turn into storm trooper accuracy. Either these guys and gals are a deadly shot or they're not.I don't think the complaint is he didn't shoot Negan, it's the story, we get it. The complaint is don't write it to have him so easily accessible for a basic kill shot from a blind person. Put them behind a wall talking through a window or crack or something and this entire critique goes away. You really can't have the repeated statements by Rick that he just needs to kill him, then have a drawn out conversation with him there for the taking. And to top it off they show Rick getting frustrated that he can't get a clear shot because Negan now has cover 5 MINUTES LATER.
Already losing viewers, will be a few more lost if they keep pulling crap like that.
I'd much prefer for Negan to just peek out a window and taunt Rick about how he must think he's an idiot, like he's just going to come strolling out there while they're all waving a bunch of guns around. It would make more sense then for the rest of his compound to suddenly show up on the roof and start shooting, Rick drives his explosive camper in and blows half of them off the roof, deposits the zombies and they all take off.
I love it!See I think that would have been much more realistic and amusing. It would have resolved a lot of the fan complaints about the scene and would be more realistic. Heck, him hiding and teasing Rick would have been great "Rick, please stop shooting my windows, it gets drafty in here, we are gonna have to burn more Drs to keep it warm."
