One of the recent speakers had the team work on team building exercises. He counts the New England Patriots as one of the teams he has mentored and has some pretty innovative methods.
Evidently there was a time during the team building where you could "call out" a teammate for something that was upsetting you. Seems that a freshman had fallen asleep during an earlier meeting and he was called out by teammates and told that he was messing up a wonderful opportunity. Roommates were calling out other roommates because they weren't putting in extra work instead hanging with girlfriends. Jimbo was even called out for the way he handled things in a previous practice.
Pretty interesting "clearing of the air" time for the team and interesting that Jimbo has the confidence to allow his players to call him out in such an open forum.
I was told by the player that in 2013 they KNEW they were going to win. The attitudes and unity on the team was incredible.
Conversely the 2014 team was not united and too many players were playing for themselves and didn't focus for an entire game. It showed....
Not sure how the 2015 season will end up but apparently attitudes are much better and players are working harder.
