I didn’t read through all these replys but last month I was sick and watched all six seasons of Longmire on Netflix. It was decent. Like murder she wrote. Only with cowboys and indians

Peaky Blinders new season just came out, great show.

S2 of The Crown just came in dec, historical drama about UK during ww2, another netflix hr.

Mindhunter, probably already seen it, but netflix is killing it lately. New show about the creation of the fbi's fabled behavioral science unit (profilers) and their work studying serial killers.

Rectify has been talked about ad nauseum on here, but worth a watch if you havent seen it yet.

Other bingey shows that i could easily veg out to while sick:
The Killing
Luther
Dexter
Better Call Saul
Narcos
House of Cards
Black Mirror
The Fall

On season 2 of the Killing now. Interesting show, sometimes frustrating. I see that it's 4 seasons long, hoping season 2 ends well and makes it worth finishing.

Nah. I'd just use him...

We started watching it recently. I like it. Interesting the main guy is an Aussie and he went to what is considered the premier theatre program in Australia. The place only accepts like 20-25 people yearly out of 1000's that apply.
On a side note that may have my man card pulled I watch Riverdale with my daughter now and then. The show cracks me up. It is a take on Archie and all these HS kids look 25 and are flawless. Not to mention Jugg Head is a tough guy now, sure don't remember that from my younger years reading Archie comics.

Don’t be fooled by the fact Rick & Morty is a cartoon.
It’s the most clever thing I’ve seen on TV in ages.
Anyone else catch the April Fools' episode last night?? Had to ask my gf if she had laced my beer.

WARNING!! Mature language NSFW!

Just some random TV musings...

If you like horror comedy, and I normally don't, I enjoy Santa Clarita diet which just released Season 2 on Netflix. I think the main draw is that it turns out Timothy Olyphant actually has great comedy chops, and he and Drew Barrymore have great chemistry. Things move quickly, and I get a few chuckles each episode thanks mainly to the leads and their delivery of pretty clever dialogue. Other than that, it'd just be another zombie comedy.

Season premier of The Americans was absolutely legit last week. Best episode in a couple years I think. I thought the show lost was just treading water a bit last season, but an awesome launch of its final season. Psyched to see Oleg back in the mix with a meaningful story, hopefully he and Stan get the band back together.

Any thoughts on HBO's Barry? Only seen the first episode so far, and it's fine quality wise, but it almost seems too on the nose of "quirky prestige comedy." I don't know if I'll find it a little annoying.

Sneaky Pete Season 2 hit Amazon a couple weeks ago, for those that have gotten into that excellent show. I thought it was very solid.

I might give the Santa Clara diet a try

I'll say this...you either will like the tone or you won't. It's not one of the those things you have to watch a season or half a season to get into it...it just gets rolling, and if you don't find it funny, then no reason to stay with it. I'd say maybe give it two episodes, as the humor/gore mix can be a bit offputting at the jump, but if you aren't amused and or charmed by it within two episodes, no need to stay with it. The storyline is perfectly fine for what it is, but it's not like some escalating reveal situation you have to wait to pay off. I wouldn't stay with it if I didn't find it funny and charming.

It’s funny as hell.

Agreed. I want to say Olyphant and Barrymore must have the best comedic couples chemistry on TV right now, but I guess I don't watch enough comedy to really say that. But they're both really really good, and really funny together.

I also like the teen leads quite a bit. I usually can't much stand teen characters on TV, they're usually some cliche of "teenagers", but I think those two are actually really well written and have their own original voices, instead of just running around talking about instagram and weed or whatever the current teen stereotype is.

I like Olyphant. Berrymore's face bothers me. Still, worth a shot. Slim pickings right now on Netflix/Hulu/Starz/HBO. I will report back

I watched the first episode of Trust (the J. Paul Getty III kidnapping) and it held my interest. If you like food/culture shows, David Chang's Ugly Delicious is really well done.

I never would have guessed Olyphant was funny, but holy hell he’s great in this show. And you’re right, they work very well together. And the daughter is a fine actresses too.

Usually if I have a little smoke bad acting grates on me and I have a very hard time with “suspension of disbelief”. But that’s not an issue with SCD - I just laugh my ass off.

I'm a sucked for HBO shows so I'm in on Barry for the whole thing.

I forgot about Sneaky Pete, will have to check out season 2.

Handmaids Tale (hulu)
Seven Seconds (nflx)

Both are good, though not picker-uppers.

I have liked Olyphant for a while, really liked his character in Justified. I will have to check it out.

Been saying I want to check out Sneaky Pete as well.

Yeah, big Sneaky Pete fan here. Sort of Breaking Bad light...same sort of crime drama type thing, but nowhere near as dire. Not as good as Breaking Bad, but a little lighter, not quite as slow and existential. A similar "back them into a corner, see how they get out" type thing, but a lot more "fun." Some really great acting in it.

And Margo Martindale from the Americans is in it and is awesome in it. She's great in two of my favorite shows, really great actress.

Dude, half of the first episode, IN!

It also has Nathan Fillion, double like.

there's a 4 part documentary on Netflix about Trump. If you'e not easily triggered at the mere mention of his name, it was a pretty good miniseries I thought.

There's a Amazon original series called Tin Star. I saw 1 episode of it and it seemed decent. Anyone finished this series/know if its any good?

Anyone else keeping up with the show Barry on HBO? I think I have been enjoying that more than Silicon Valley so far this season. They ruined Dinesh and Gilfoyle this season, and Richard is very unlikeble now.

Barry is an interesting mix of dark and unusual comedy. Henry Winkler is excellent as quirky acting school teacher. Lots of familiar faces throughout. Ups and downs, of course, but I like it so far.

Barry is on my list when I finish Peaky Blinders. Gilfoyle is my favorite tv series character right now. Dinesh used to be funny, but they are trying to give him too big of a part.

They are ruining the characters IMO. Dinesh is best in small doses. Gilfoyle has been made to look a fool quite a bit this season, which is annoying. He was always one of the best problem solvers in the character. I loved him in Season 1 with all the dark lord stuff. They've watered him down and Dinesh is downright annoying now.

Show might be suffering from having too many characters. I'm also getting tired of the formulaic nature of the show. It's predictable that if an episode starts out good for the guys, it ends bad and vice versa.

You should listen to NPR's Podcast Trump Stories: Trump SoHo if this subject matter interests you.

I enjoyed Safe on Netflix a good bit. As well as the crime documentary "Evil Genius". If you're not familiar with the case, that is about arguably the most bizarre case in recent years. I don't know if it needed to be that long, or how satisfactory it was, but it's just a crazy case.
