Which one of you bought the Da Vinci painting

First step's got to be to draw a fake mustache and monocle on the lady to class it up a bit...

I wonder if there was any meaning to Jesus holding a crystal sphere and raising his hand. Waiting for Dan Brown to decipher it in his historically accurate novels.

(also, didn't know Jesus was white :p)

Middle Eastern buyer, all cash?

Or maybe this guys?

I was thinking middle east because who has that much money. But I think it would be a violation to hang a painting of Jesus in a Muslim home....false idols and all. Maybe a Russian oligarch or the Queen of England. Would be nice if they put it in a museum.

More than you would think....

The bidding escalated from $300 million to $400 million in seconds. I suspect somebody is washing some dirty cash. A buddy who is an art collector said it's about the art, not the money. I beg to differ, especially since he's gotten rich buying art.

People in the auction house gallery applauded and cheered when the bidding reached $300 million and when the hammer came down on the final bid, $400 million. The record sale price of $450 million includes the buyer's premium, a fee paid by the winner to the auction house.

In all categories, the top end items continue to break records. Some people got the Benjamin’s.
Meanwhile, mid range and lesser items are in a steady decline.

So in 2005 it sold for $10k as it was partly painted over, then with extensive restoration it sold a couple more times and for now $450m? Not sure how or why it is considered so valuable when it has had so much work done to it considering the value is based on who originally painted it.
Guess I just don't get it...
