So I'm listening to Scott McKinney on The Ticket sports talk radio this morning. I know, why the hell am I doing that. I don't know but I was and picked up some interesting info regarding Grier's appeal. It seems that when Grier bought the illegal supplement, he took it to the football office to have it approved. It was late spring, early summer and as luck would have it, there was only one graduate assistant in the football office. This person gave Grier the approval. The GA has confirmed this story(imagine that) and this is what they are basing their appeal on. He prefaced it by saying there have been 27 cases of players getting the same punishment and none have appealed successfully. But being that this GA has backed up the story, Scott feels that he may have a chance to win. His sidekick, a UF fan and more stupid than Scott, thinks that they should be able to not only have him back next year but overturn the whole suspension since he was given bad advice. They then went on to question how tough the penalties were and that they thought Grier and his family would probably sue the NCAA over it.
I promise that I'm not making this stuff up. This brings up several questions and/or points. First, if the penalties are so punitive as to not be fair, why did they wait till now to sue to have them reduced. They have worked 27 times in the past but now, all of a sudden, they are too punitive. Secondly, do they not realize that if this were appealed successfully, everyone that fails a test can trot out a retard GA to say it was his/her fault and that they gave the player bad advice. Third, Scott McKinney and all of these UF supporters are idiots. That's all.
