consider me a defensive X's and O's noob... my initial guesstimating understanding of FS and SS is that FS is the one that converges on deep passes to help the CB ... he's the guy nobody is supposed to get past... and SS is supposed to come up and knock some sense into the RB and maybe cover slants?
I really don't know the difference between these two a whole lot and their roles... what I'm asking here is not only if I'm correct so far, but what a FS is supposed to be doing in run situations, what a SS does in pass situations, and based on all of this what the ideal measurables are for the two positions.
