‘Average global temperature’ is a meaningless measure, and comparisons to 125,000 years ago are preposterous...

The global-warming industry has declared that July 3 and 4 were the two hottest days on Earth on record. The reported average global temperature on those days was 62.6 degrees Fahrenheit, supposedly the hottest in 125,000 years. The claimed temperature was derived from the University of Maine’s Climate Reanalyzer, which relies on a mix of satellite temperature data and computer-model guesstimation to calculate estimates of temperature.

One obvious problem with the updated narrative is that there are no satellite data from 125,000 years ago. Calculated estimates of current temperatures can’t be fairly compared with guesses of global temperature from thousands of years ago.....

Temperature stations also tend to be limited to populated areas. Much of the Earth’s surface isn’t measured at all. Although the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration likes to present global temperatures starting in 1880, regular temperature collection in places such as the north and south poles began much later.

It isn’t plausible to characterize Earth’s warming in a single average number, especially when we don’t really know what that number is today, much less from 125,000 years ago....

Biggest scam being pushed for decades. Temperature has been changing and fluctuating for thousands of years. As usual, it’s about $$$$. It used to be called “global warming”, but when temps dropped, they had to come up with the “climate change” term.

Global warming/climate change is a fact and it's happening right now.

The planet is in deep trouble.

"The current warming trend is different because it is clearly the result of human activities since the mid-1800's, and is proceeding at a rate not seen over many recent millennia. It is undeniable that human activities have produced the atmospheric gases that have trapped more of the Sun’s energy in the Earth system.

This extra energy has warmed the atmosphere, ocean, and land, and widespread and rapid changes in the atmosphere, ocean, cryosphere, and biosphere have occurred."

The wildfires in Canada that are pouring smoke into America are fueled by climate change.

Climate change is happening now.

"Unusually hot and dry weather created a breeding ground for wildfires in provinces including Quebec, Nova Scotia and Ontario, with the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Center recording more than 400 fires blazing at once. Vegetation became more combustible due to the warm temperatures and a lack of precipitation, so when lightning struck, some of those fires sparked."

🤦‍♂️
Guess all these wildfires 16 wildfires in Canada before 1950 were caused by global warming…. Err “Climate Change” as well

Climate change doesn't "cause" wildfires. It makes them worse. Same with hurricanes. This is like high school level knowledge.

I assume you don't have a degree in STEM:

Robert Scheller, a professor of forestry and environmental resources at NC State’s College of Natural Resources, said greenhouse gas emissions continue to drive changes in the climate, contributing to warmer-than-average surface temperatures and shifting precipitation patterns — trends that are expected to increase the frequency, intensity and duration of wildfires across the U.S.

“Climate change is creating the perfect conditions for larger, more intense wildfires,” said Scheller, who uses geospatial analytics to examine the effects of climate change and human activities on long-term landscape health. “We’re already seeing fires that we didn’t expect to see until 2080.”

Regarding climate change and fires. Has any research considered the impact of not letting natural fires burn and supressing them? This builds up a lot of dead wood and tinder that when the fire gets out of control, its larger than it would have been had previous fires been allowed to remove this stuff. California is an example of this. More extreme fires may be due to forest management practices and not "Climate Change" aka global warming.

Again, how do they know this based on limited data? See the original article. Can they compare climate data now to 1000 years ago? How about 5000? The earth is 4.5 billion years old even if we go from the end of the warming period were still dealing with limited data.

This is the claim made in the article that was clearly disputed by the tweet from NASA.

I believe the temp was the hottest since 1979. If they say its hotter than the last 100 years I'm ok with that too. Anything that tries to tell what happened pre 1880 is a guess. Maybe an educated guess but still a WAG.

A single number from the last 45 years based on data from a small percentage of the planet is questionable. The location of the stations is questionable too and what percentage of the planet are they getting dat from? More than half and both poles? I don't think so.

Do you know why you don't put your thermostat by the door or in the kitchen?

So Brian, what is your degree in?

Are you intentionally ignoring this part? These are NASA scientists not message board warriors stating this.

Its twitter. Isn't Twitter a social media platform or message board by another name? Not ignoring it at all infact highlighting that part. The records are unofficial because there are none going back that far which is the whole point.

There are thousands of peer reviewed studies you could research.

Why don't you take your beliefs on climate change and submit them to a scientific peer reviewed journal and post the results here?

You and @F4Gary could try. :)
I don't need a thousand articles based on data that comprises less than a tenth of a percent of global climate data. Like I said the Earth is 4.5 billion years old. We have data from the last 150 at best. Even if we had reliable data from the last 5000 years we still wouldn't scratch the surface. Nobody knows if the climate is changing or its part of a cycle. Me, you or all the studies out there are guessing.

Then submit your beliefs to a peer reviewed scientific journal about climate change and let us know how it goes.

Are these the same NASA guys that destroyed a $125M space vehicle because they measured in meters instead of feet? Or the same NASA that has blown up several other crafts? This entity was so bad that even the Democrat President Obama shuddered it….
