Football Kyle Morlock taking a big next step early this preseason for FSU

As FSU's leading returner in receiving yards, Kyle Morlock enters the 2024 season with quite a bit of pressure. After an offseason of hard work to prepare, he's been arguably FSU's most productive offensive player through three practices this preseason.

Track and Field Q&A: Four-time Olympian, FSU grad Kimberly Williams

Just by making the trip to Paris, Kimberly Williams has made history. The 2012 Florida State graduate is the first woman in FSU history to earn a fourth bid to the Summer Olympics.

Williams qualified for Paris with a mark of 13.67 meters at Jamaica's Olympic Trials.

Inducted into the FSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2021, Williams is one of the most accomplished women in the track program's history. From 2008-11, she won five individual NCAA titles, marking the most for any female in program history. Williams won 12 individual ACC gold medals over her career, which is the most for any Seminole.

Williams answered questions from the Osceola while training in London, prior to traveling to Paris. She took part in the Opening Ceremonies on Friday with Jamaica.

Football Observations from FSU's third practice (first in shells) of preseason camp

FSU put the shells on for the first time this preseason this morning and the physicality ramped up. Josh Farmer and Darius Washington were among the standouts in a competitive day in the trenches.

That and much more in our practice report from Day 3 of preseason camp.

Bakers Dozen

FSU is one of four teams who star ranking average is four stars. They along with Ohio State, Oregon and LSU have the highest rated classes based on star rankings. If you go off quality the Seminoles have an impressive haul heading into the football season. They stand at 13 commitments after Malik Clark decided to pull the trigger for the Seminoles this past weekend. We will break down the prospects by need on who FSU will want to go after next.

1-Josh Petty - Fellowship Christian School-OT-6'5-260 - Petty is the most important recruit left on FSU recruiting board for 2025. They have a major need at offensive tackle and Petty is rated a 5 (Star). He would be the best tackle prospect FSU has probably landed in the past two decades. He has all the tools to be a major contributor at FSU. (FSU leads -Georgia Tech)

2-Ousmane Kromah-Lee County -RB-5'11-200 -This is a recruitment that has been on and off over the past year. Kromah will once again visit FSU this weekend. We say in recruiting, follow the visits. Kromah has visited FSU multiple times. He seems to like what FSU provides. FSU and UGA are the two programs after him the hardest. Auburn is also in the mix. We feel much better about this recruitment now then a few months ago.

3-Byron Louis-American Heritage-RB-5'11-200-FSU has been on Louis for a while now. He is a big, powerful back than can also run with finesse. Louis is a prospect that has favored FSU for a while now. He is deciding after Kromah so the Seminoles may sign the best running back class in the country.

4-Ty Jackson-Seminole Ridge-LB-6'1-200 - Outside of tackle there is not a greater need in this class then linebacker. FSU has missed on a couple of backers and Jackson now becomes priority number one. He is a very good athlete. He is someone that the longer his recruitment goes the asking price for his services may go down. This may be a situation that works out for both FSU and Jackson.

5-Onis Konanbanny-Heathwood Hall-CB-6'1-180-FSU pulled one shocker out of SC. Can they do it again? Onis is severely underrated. He is a prospect that has all the tools FSU is looking for in a corner. He has size and length. He can also run very well. Tennessee is in the lead but FSU is coming.

6-Bryce Fitzgerald-Columbus HS-DB-6'1-175-A couple of months ago FSU was not even on Fitzgerald radar. After a visit to Tallahassee, Bryce listed FSU as one of his leaders. This is an in-state battle for Bryce. FSU, Miami and UF are fighting for his services.

7-Tavion Wallace-Wayne County HS-LB-6'1-220-Wallace shocked everyone when he chose Arkansas over FSU. What will not be surprising is if Arkansas fires their coach 4-5 games into the season. We feel this is one recruitment that most likely opens up again. FSU is still in contact with Wallace. If not committed we would have him higher up on the board.

8-Jared Smith-Thompson HS -DE-6'7-240-Auburn leads for Smith. If this was a more open recruitment we would have him near the top of the list. He is an elite defensive end. Could FSU pull a shocker and sign Smith? This kid is worth throwing a major amount of money at. QB, LT, DE those are positions you have to be willing to be the highest bidder for.

9-Kaliq Lockett-Sachse HS-WR-6'2-180-FSU has three blue chip receivers committed. That being said you would never turn down Lockett. He is an elite receiver and one that could probably come in and contribute day one. FSU is in the ball game and they are in a great position. I talk about position of strength. With three receivers on board FSU can push all their chips in for Lockett. Texas will be tough to be beat.

10-TJ Alford-Vero Beach-LB-6'2-200 (Committed to Ohio State) Alford pulled the trigger early on for Ohio State. What I can tell you is FSU has someone in their corner with Alford. They have a shot. He will take an in season visit. If that visit takes place, I like FSU shot at flipping Alford.

11-Jalen Wiggins-Rickards-DT-6'5-225 (Committed to UF) Wiggins is committed to the Gators, we still feel that FSU has a legit shot at a flip. He is going to stay committed until the season starts. If UF gets off to a poor start to the 2024 season look for Wiggins to change his mind. He plays some end but we expect him to move inside at the next level.

12-Jeremiah McCloud-Lee County-DT-6'3-280 (Committed to UF) He is visiting FSU this weekend. His recruitment is far from over. FSU will continue to push and it would not shock us to see McCloud change his mind between now and NSD. Once again this recruitment comes down to the play on the field. We expect FSU to outperform UF there.

13-Ladarian Clardy-Escambia HS-S-5'11-175 -Clardy is one of the best players in the panhandle this year. Turn on his film and you will see why. He has speed. The kid can run and cover a ton of ground. He is also long. He is someone that has the versatility to play multiple positions at the next level.

Brady told us a couple of weeks ago in Jacksonville that he would be back this weekend. He shadowed to the QBs all day long. Spoke with his father briefly post practice and the whole family seems to be very comfortable with his son's commitment. They really enjoy their trips to Tallahassee.

Evan will be back tomorrow for the Elite Camp. I haven't seen him play yet but boy he sure looks the part in person. Has a ton of offers so it's a huge positive for FSU to get him from Arkansas for a two-day visit. His offer list includes ARK, HOU, LSU, MINN, SO CAR, WISC, OU, TAMU among others.
