We, of course, called them "butter beans" growing up, and I have always loved them, especially the little ones in Brunswick stew.

I get it. For years, I refused to accept that butter beans and lima beans were the same thing, despite seeing them come from the exact same plant in the garden. I think that there are some varietals that trend darker, but they are all lima beans. The green ones are just younger.

I had similar challenges with green and black olives and red, orange, and green bell peppers.
You should read about peppercorns. That will drive you nuts too.

I am curious. Peppercorn seems pretty straightforward.
I always thought peppercorns were from different plants black, white and green. As it turns out they are berries from the same plant, the green ones are unripe, black ones are ripened and dried and the white ones are skinned black peppercorns. Not sure why I assumed they were all from different plants.

You do realize that broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage are ALL Brassica oleracea. Right? 😎

The committee acknowledged the 4th quarter miami TD was a fluke. They also put the advanced metrics of FSU and Washington side by side and the Noles with there too.
Much as I hate running up the score, we'd better punish N. Alabammer bigly Saturday.

Wouldn't upset me at all if they do the same thing the following week, either.

I think that a legitimate case can be made for Washington being ranked higher than FSU. I think it's going to come down to what happens in the conference championship games. If Washington beats a top-5 Oregon a second time and FSU does not completely dominate a top-10 Louisville, then making the case that FSU is more deserving of a playoff spot is going to be very difficult.
It doesn't matter at that point because Ohio St and Michigan play each other. In that scenario Waashington and FSU would be in.

That assumes that the winner of the Big12 championship game and the losers of the Big10 and SEC championship games are out, i.e., that the committee would not seed a 1-loss UGA/Ohio St/Michigan/Texas over an undefeated Washington or FSU.

At this point, I think the only safe bets for the playoffs are the SEC and Big10 champions. The Pac12 has been arguably the best conference all year, therefore I think the PAC-12 champion would probably be given more consideration than the ACC champion, if they are both on the bubble.
Obviously there's a chance that could happen, but the committee and ESPN would be showing their true colors if they put a 1 loss non champ over an unbeaten conference champ. Now with that said a 1 loss non champ like UGA or Michigan would definitely get in over a 1 loss FSU or P10 team conference title or not. It's unfair that certain B10 and SEC teams get a mulligan but that's how it is. If two teams have equal records and one is a conference champ, and the other isn't the conference champ should get in but that's not how it works.

FWIW I think Texas and Oregon are done regardless of what they do in the conference title games unless Bama loses. The Mich/OSU loser wont drop very far and likely would stay above both of them.

Just for the drama and chaos, I would love to see the end of the year records end up:

Alabama 12-1 (SEC Champion)
UGA 12-1 (SEC runner-up)
Iowa 11-2 (Big10 Champion)
OSU 12-1 (Big10 runner-up)
Louisville 12-1 (ACC Champion)
FSU 12-1 (ACC runner-up)
Oregon 12-1 (Pac12 Champion)
Washington 12-1 (Pac12 runner-up)
Texas 12-1 (Big 12 Champion)
Michigan 11-1
I’m sorry man, but even as someone who often admires your bravery with some of the stuff you post on here, I must remind you that it’s written in all the holy books as well as the Constitution: anybody who says at this point in this magical season that they’d “love” to see FSU end up 12-1, rather than 13-0, regardless of reason, must immediately hand in their Nole card, all FSU apparel and other FSU swag, and personally apologize to Coach Norvell and the team.
Very disappointed. This is a sad day.

Michigan 11-1
The only sure bets in that scenario would be Bama and Oregon. Washington, FSU and Michigan and Iowa would likely be out.

Also, you lose board cred for advocating FSU lose in the ACCCG. Or at all for that matter.

If Bama wins out and ends the season ranked #1 with their only loss being to a 12-1, Big 12 Champion, 2024 SEC member Texas, I can not see the committee foregoing the opportunity for a Bama/Texas rematch for the national championship.

If FSU continues to have tight, inconsistent games including dogfights with UF and Louisville, I could easily see the committee going with:
1 Alabama 12-1
2 OSU/Mich 13-0
3 Texas 12-1
4 UGA 12-1

5 OSU/Mich 11-1
6 Washington 13-0
6 FSU 13-0
This is my only concern with things. If UGA loses to Bama what happens to UGA? Its hard to imagine the SEC getting left out so Bama would be in and with that Texas if they only had 1 loss. The B10 champ would be in if its OSU or Michigan so that leaves 1 spot. If Washington and FSU are both 13-0 someone is getting left out or would they leave out Texas making the head-to-head void?

Thats why I hope Georgia wins out and Washington loses one as well. Takes chance out of the equation.

Here is a better scenario:

The B10 and SEC all lose 2 games, and both get left out of the playoff. FSU wins the whole enchilada.
