I remember that several Nole fans thought it would be a good idea to give the guy a second chance here. He's gone now, destroyed his chance for everything, D-1 ball, a quality education, possible NFL dollars, etc..

Funny that the headline in the Bama news is "Former UGA players"...

Thug is a thug

1. He signed with Bama 6-months after being released from UGA. This incident took place 9-months after the release.
2. While this is Bama news, it is in an Athens GA news site, so it makes sense they refer to him as a former UGA player.

I'm sure this won't get much play in the national media, not only because it is happening at an SEC school but also because it is the March Madness and the only real thing the media is focused on is the NCAA Tournament. If this happened to a Kentucky Basketball player right now I am sure the media would be all over it.

Was he part of the players at UGA that got a check and deposited on his phone and then went to the bank to deposit it again?

Dumb criminal nominees for sure.

Yep, he's one of 4 caught doing it. And you can bet by this time next week, this will not be even a small print addition at the end of any sports show or outlet. Now if he'd stolen some crab legs, now THAT might have aroused the media's ire.

I agree with you to a point. But...the story is among the top stories on the first page of esecpn's site and this guy hasn't won jack much less played other than at a jc. They rode Famous for all that he was worth and hopefully will do an extensive story about what a great guy he has shown that he is in 2 or 3 years. But as far as notable/talented players this guy and jameis as as far apart as Earth is to the sun.

Yup, ESPN has it front page but the headline doesn't mention "again" nor UGA.

The kid has issues and should be dismissed, as I am sure Bama took him on with the concept of "zero tolerance".

Just read that. Some people will never ever learn, even if he doesn't make it in the NFL, if he lost his schollie, he's thrown away a lot of money.

I think if he had won a Heisman and led his team to a title win it would be a bigger deal.

Sadly, the ugly matter really goes beyond Alabama. Shouldn't there be a national policy in place that prevents players convicted of felonies -- and those who are accused of such crimes but who haven't yet faced criminal trials -- from transferring to other schools? Sure, people can be rehabilitated and learn from their mistakes, but that doesn't necessarily mean they deserve to play college football and receive a scholarship.

Welcome to to brave new world of "yes means yes", where men are found guilty when accused..

isn't that a contradiction in terms? i mean, if they have zero tolerance, then they won't admit him to the school and give him a scholly.

anyway, i'm sure Auburn or Louisville can find a place for him.

Probably depends on which teams' high dollar booster came through for the recant.

It's remarkable that we live in the United States, where theoretically a person in innocent until proven guilty, and idiots like Schlabach assume an arrest is 100% proof of guilt. I wonder if he'll, now, write a column professing his hasty leap to judgement and complete lack of investigation.
