Aaron Hernandez

Sounds about right. The only thing you’re forgetting is brain damage.
Glad you mentioned it.

AH is the odd case that encompasses a number of the circumstances Fin85 laid out + brain damage. Researches found an unprecedented amount of CTE in his brain for someone of his age.

Truly a lethal mix of everything that could go wrong -- for him, his family, and those who crossed him.

I listened to the first two parts of the Gladiator series podcast on my drive home last night. It's really good. Hernandez was one seriously messed up dude.

Hundreds of thousands of people live with terrible problems without becoming mass murderers. I have to think Aaron was born with severe intellectual/emotional defects and it went downhill from there.
I don't necessarily buy that he was genetically predisposed to being violent.

If you look at the incredible series of trauma he went through, his issues in confronting/admitting to his own sexuality, his family environment, playing an extremely violent sport, the lack of consequences for his previous acts of violence, and a significant case of CTE - you've got your cocktail for a guy who is teetering on the edge of implosion.

Pretty interesting person, & a lot should be learned from his life.

I’m curious what role his being gay played in his overall insecurities and machismo. I imagine it made him act out in some brutal ways. Also, we never really learned the motives to several of the incidents, ie the Gainesville shooting, or even the Boston double homicide. Wonder if his masculinity was called into question.

Even the Odin murder, it was basically speculated he knew some stuff about him, right? Most thought it was dirt (again, Boston double homicide). Maybe it was his affair.

Purely speculation.

The problem with this whole thread is that your talking about the wrong person. And not the victims and their families.
