Man, it is miserable. Probably some reduction in the severity because I did get the shot. Can’t imagine what it would be like at “full strength.”

Got the flu shot. Just got my 3 year old his shot as well. I heard it’s only 10% effective this year. That stinks.

Ugh, Wife had strain “A”. I got it, child got a mild case. I’m still not back to normal, like 11 days.

Wife got the flu, I got the shot and didn't get the flu from her or anyone else.

I read this is inaccruate, that it’s closer to 30% but also reduces the severity if you do catch it. My question is why not get the shot?

I had never gotten the flu and didn't bother with the free flu shots they give out at my work. Then over Christmas of 2001 it finally got me. I could not believe how sick I was or how bad the muscle aches were -- I could barely walk up the steps at 34 year of age. The sometimes uncontrollable chills and shaking scared me. It took me a good 10 days to get better.

I have gotten the flu shot every fall since then, and so far so good.

Didn’t go get official confirmation, but my younger son and I have both been laid up since Wednesday.

Hopefully the Tamiflu helps.

My wife is a virologist and she did some voodoo experiment in her lab and confirmed that we had the H3 strain. :)

Got the shot in Nov and got a mild case of the flu late in Dec. Low grade fever, headache, and overall blahs. It lasted a week and it tried to come back a few days later. Was never sick enough to go to the doctor.

It has run through our office. There's probably only 5-6 out of 25 of us that hasn't been out with it. I have two things going for me. 1. I got the shot. 2. I'm in the field and not in the office the majority of the time away from all of those sickos.

JUST GIVE HER THE SHOT!

My god, this is nasty. Developed a sore throat so was hoping that it was strep, but my wife did a rapid test this morning and it was negative.

Had to skip my son’s big wrestling tournament today. Just too dangerous to be in a packed gym with lots of little kids.

Because of the flu or the court order?

Got a flu shot this year for first time in three years. It was “free” under our HI and “immunizing pharmacist” said it was an immunization against 4 different types of the flu. So far so good.

How long after exposure to symptoms start?

Was laid up about 2 days. Went to the doc and got Tamiflu, said they were running out swab test with so many people coming in.

The “again” was in reference to the “on average”. Didn’t mean to make it sound like I was having to repeat myself.

Had a 5 day bout with it last week and still getting rid of residual respiratory junk.

I have strain B. Been 7 days with this and I can't do anything still. I'm 37, healthy and got the flu shot. I say 7 days but that's just from when I finally got a fever. Spiked to 103 and last night i still got a low grade fever of 99. I probably haven't had the flu in 8 years or more. Biggest hurdle now is that I'm very tired all day, and I think I have bronchitius now. This sucks big time.

Keep a super close watch on yourself (and hopefully you don't live alone). The bronchitis can turn into pneumonia and that's where it gets really dangerous. If you start wondering if you should go to the hospital, go.

I get the quadrivalent flu shot each year. I had influenza 7 years ago and it took me about 3 months to get most of my energy back. I have asthma, so I'm at a higher risk of complications.

I found out today I have a sinus infection but was told that it isn't uncommon after getting over the flu. At least there is light at the end of the tunnel. Can't stand being sick

I've been lucky. Went twice to get my shot and their were out both times. I share an office with 2 other teachers, both of whom took the shot. Both have been out with the flu. I had the flu and the mumps(there is a disease you don't hear of anymore) at the same time when I was 12. If that is what the true flu is like I never want to go through that again.

My big issue annually is with sinus and allergy problems. It seems the older I get the worse it is. I have been battling sinus problems since mid November.

We have had a brutal season. The flu worked its way through the whole family, then norovirus, then a pretty tough upper airway cold.

This is without a doubt the worst part about having kids. I used to get sock about once every two years. Now these little Petri dishes drag every cootie on the continent into this house.

My wife tested positive for type A and was given Tamiflu. I guess she only had a mild case because she was only sick for 2-3 days. We have 3 kids and her sister’s family was down visiting w their kids an nobody luckily caught it.

We are living-to a certain extent—like bubble people, but with a preemie who is still undersized, things vacant get real bad real fast.

Gahhhh. Started feeling iffy Tuesday evening, full sick by Wednesday. Still don't feel good. Looks like for the Super Bowl I'll be drinking a new concoction I've come up with, Vodka & citrus-flavored Theraflu. I call them FluDrivers (trademark application pending).
