An elite and highly successful HC such as Saban hired Kiffin & before him Bama's OC was none other than the McElwain, to set the offensive schemes and call plays. Saban has chosen to assume the role of CEO which includes recruiting, the process as he is fond of calling it, dealing with the media, hiring his other assistants and is highly compensated even though he has delegated calling plays to a west coast guys. Saban, still renders his advice and gives Kiffin an earful from time to time.
UF, hired a new HC, aka the Swamp Donkey who brought his OC & play caller from Colorado State to Gainesville. Has anyone else on this board noticed how better balanced Bama's offense has become? And even in his first year how the Gator offense has been transformed almost overnight. Folks, creative & innovative offensive schemes and play calling really can make a big difference. It generates a sense of excitement. Fans like to see points go up on the scoreboard. Yes, we want wins, but we'd like to see some imaginative plays too.
For Warchant posters that bother watch games other than FSU's have you noticed the growing gap other than in 2013 season, between the top 15 to 25 offensive teams and the production of our Noles? We nickel & dime, chipping our way downfield while other teams stretch the field both north- south as well as east- west which keeps defenses off balance. The terrific offensive teams are running 90 to 100 plays or more while our offense provides plenty of time for defenders to catch their breathe. Creative schemes use lots of motion making it much more difficult to stack the box to stop the run or risk blitzing a QB that gets rid of the ball quickly. Jimbo is a class act, an elite recruiter, has upgraded the program & facilities and has become the CEO & face of FSU football. Unlike, other head coaches he is willing to express his viewpoint very directly on most any subject related to college football. IMO, he saved FSU from the downward spiral that had become FSU football at the tail end Bowden era. Bobby put his family and son Jeff's income above the good of the program and in the end it took both of them and FSU football in the wrong direction. I love coach Bowden but this is why there are rules against nepotism. While Jimbo is a competent OC, he is far from an elite OC or play caller. Yes, FSU has won 33 put of our past 34 games but other than the championship year with Jameis have we really been a team that has dominated our opponents even with top 5 recruiting classes the past 5 years? When you're having trouble rolling up offensive stats and many points against teams like USF, BC & even Wake a Forest their are yellow ( caution ) lights flashing. How long before the top recruits begin to look at our competitors because we longer have the " buzz " factor working in our favor? The question is whether Coach Fisher will consider swallowing his pride for the good of the program, while still being very well compensated as the HC/ CEO at a school that remains a contender to win championships? If you're satisfied with Coach Fisher's offensive schemes and play calling, just say so. Don't bother posting that I should send in my resume as I'm not qualified but you don't have to be a football guru to see the difference between Baylor's offense and the one we have seen this season and even last year too.
