I don’t think we’d be that bad off in Atkins’ hands, & it seems fairly logical. He’s been an OC at 2 previous stops (Tulane & Charlotte) & he’s one of our most talked about coaches. Maybe a promotion is in order. Recruits love him. Besides, this is Norvell’s offense, so with a few years together, I imagine Atkins can implement the offense and let Norvell call plays.
Edit to add Chip Long’s name. He was Norvell’s TE coach at ASU, followed him to Memphis to be OC for a year. He coached at Notre Dame and had some really good offenses, but seemed to clash with Kelly (go figure). His offense this year at Tulane kind of sucks..
