I'm sure facebook was lit up with the terrorism theories not that this announcement will help that. Its sad that this is where we are today that people immediately assume something bad. Although it does seem a tad early to know what its not.The disaster is bad enough; the fact that authorities felt compelled to let people know there's no sign of terrorism involved speaks volumes about the world we in these days.
Remember when the car crashed at the border gate in Niagra Falls and the media immediately ran with the terrorism angle? Turned out that wasn't true at all. Possibly, the FBI was trying to avoid a repeat. The disaster is bad enough; the fact that authorities felt compelled to let people know there's no sign of terrorism involved speaks volumes about the world we in these days.
My guess would be that if it was terrorism they would want to inflict the greatest loss of life and ram the bridge during a rush hour.I'm sure facebook was lit up with the terrorism theories not that this announcement will help that. But if you consider the logistical and financial damage that will come from this maybe it wasn't a consideration. My guess would be that if it was terrorism they would want to inflict the greatest loss of life and ram the bridge during a rush hour.
Very true. But honestly the logistical and financial damage from something like this was already a given, so why not go for the unholy Allah trifecta and kill hundreds of infidels at the same time and get all 40 virgins? But if you consider the logistical and financial damage that will come from this maybe it wasn't a consideration.
We used to go under occasionally in pleasure craft, and if you looked up from underneath, you would have wondered why anyone would try to drive over the damn thing.Who remembers the Sunshine Skyway collapse? To this day I would not go near that bridge.
Ugh.
True story my youngest brother was in St. Pete that day and was going to head out over the bridge for a meeting in Sarasota. Horrible downpour so he decided to chill out for a bit and let it pass. He likely would have died on that bridge.
The Captain's mayday call and the cops' quick actions saved a lot of lives and not a minute too soon. You can see the traffic that was still crossing the bridge as the ship approached. Some lucky people! The police actually stop traffic from crossing the bridge. Great move.
