Bud Light VP Takes “”Leave of Absence”

I think that the only thing that could push the two populations together would be an immediate existential threat from an identified foe, e.g., a nuclear world war or an alien invasion. Not even a worldwide pandemic could unify the nation.
Nuclear war is a zero sum game so even if it happens it wont matter. Alien invasion would also have the same outcome for us so that wouldn't matter either. We need a good short dictator to ruffle everyone's feathers.

I was being kinda sarcastic. Alot of people watch him which is scary of its self. Same as all the other news folks.
Got it.

We have a insatiable thirst for drama and drink from different wells. I too am not a fan of political talk shows and yet here I am reading and posting in this thread. I will probably follow that up with a sports debate on the TC and finish watching Beef on Netflix. Few if any are worthy to cast stones.

Bud Light is an unremarkable product VERY SIMILAR to other unremarkable domestic beers. Absent huge price cuts or the roll-out of some other truly interesting promotion, why will alienated Bud Light customers go back to A-B? It's largely a fungible product, much like paper towels or ketchup.

To me this is ridiculous drama.

There are a lot more serious issues to be concerned about.

Some people just thrive on drama, and look for any excuse to jump in.
So true, and just like virtually every other "this boycott is different!" that preceded it, whoever liked Bud Light or other A-B products will be back to buying and consuming them as soon as the next 2 or 3 weekly manufactured outrages have come and gone as well.

Its easy to boycott products you dont use anyway. Most of the folks that are "boycotting" Bud Lite didnt drink it anyway. Same with Nike, Starbucks and Target, its simple if you don't frequent those places. Lets see folks boycott something like Apple or Amazon.

Well I do know someone that boycotted Apple because he couldn’t figure out the OS.

He thought his Microsoft phone was the best thing on the planet. I’m not sure what he uses now.

Agree, add the following to the list of ridiculous drama:
1) ripping down historical statues
2) mr potato head's gender
3) the use of the word "dixie"
4) the cancelation of Hume, one of the great philosophers of his age
5) Aunt Jemima
etc., etc., etc.
But let's not worry about the slow poison in the form of GMOs, preservatives, growth hormones, and antibiotics in most of what we consume, not to mention, the most powerful financial institution on the planet, the Federal Reserve System, which has enslaved all of us... every business in the nation is subject to an audit, but NOT the Fed... I honestly LMFAO when I read a post of some dude's angst over not having tampons in a men's restroom. Pure comedy.

Totally agree with the food situation as well as my mantra, “if we don’t have clean water, then nothing matters. “

A friend of mine’s nutritionist once remarked that “whom ever invented cereal was single-handedly trying to kill people “.

Do people even have a clue why regular milk goes bad in 3-5 days, and organic milk lasts for a month? There’s a reason for that and it’s the additives in the mainstream milk.

I tried a Samsung phone and it was confusing as riding a bike backwards.

Milk overseas isn't refrigerated until after its opened and lasts much longer. Why? Of course so we buy more but its in the process.

We also use 110 electricity (inefficient and more costly to step down), the imperial measuring system vs metric and even how we build our homes (wood vs concrete) all to feed consumerism and buy/sell more goods.

One more on cereal and breakfast.

And neither is butter, cheese and sometimes mayonnaise. The irony is that for years people thought they got food poisoning from mayonnaise in the potato salad, until they discovered the culprit was onions. Onions absorb bacteria. Put an onion on an infected wound and it draws out the infection pretty quickly.

Not following wood vs concrete? Plus I get billed in KWH, so explain why 110 V versus 220 V is more expensive? I'm confident most homes in the country have both and 110V is more efficient for smaller residential usages in my experience. Things which merit the higher voltage, get the higher voltage.

GO NOLES!!!

Sorry should have been more clear. 110 really isn't cheaper per sey but 220 is transmitted more efficiently because it requires less amps to produce the same wattage (lower gage wire ect...). Many countries just have 220 in homes which saves costs in materials and less load (amps) on the power grid.

While wood construction is the cheaper option it doesn't last as long and is susceptible to many other factors such as fire, mold, bugs ect...

Thanks for the response. I truly believe if the USA wasn't as large as it is and so interconnected the 220 switch could have happened. However, the cost to modify the complete electrical infrastructure of the USA is 100% cost prohibitive.

I loathe wood framed construction, however, 5-stories and below, the cost / benefit doesn't translate to using concrete unless there are limiting factors mandating it.

I'm a structural engineer and a licensed contractor in many states in SE US. I loathe wood framed construction, however, 5-stories and below the cost / benefit doesn't translate to using concrete unless there are limiting factors mandating it.

True. Plus look at the cost involved now of doing away with 110. Just in appliances, adapters and lightbulbs could get into the trillions.

Wasn’t this part of the Edison/Tesla issue?
Kind of. This was the AC vs DC dispute between Edison and Westinghouse. Some theory's suggest that the electric chair and its invention/creation was involved as well. Interesting stuff.

So, you admit you're just making up numbers to try to prove your point?
Just so we are on the same page for our wager, BUD stock price opened at $66.05 on Monday, April 24th.

No I mean the bet. Stock goes down to? Loses x percent?
The bet is if the stock price is lower after second qtr sales ad earnings reports are released than it was on April 24th. I’m betting it’s lower, he’s betting it’s higher. I estimate their market cap will lose close to $10B from what it was before the fallout to what it will be after the sales and earnings report are released.

Just a little update….

Apparently, they've either fired or put on leave the people connected to it.
I find the boycott to be a strange reaction; hard to think that consumers who drink their products didn't welcome the new advertising program. I thought advertisements were supposed to generate more sales...
